Excellent pedal good for sport

Although I've been riding a Look pedal for a long time I needed something better for gravel use and these Shimano pedals fit the bill. These are the most comfortable SPD pedals I've tried and used.

Cons

Looks great in pedals and boots

Looks great on my black and blue bike design. I assumed a semi-flat/half-cut pedal design; I quickly realized that I never wanted to ride my bike in normal shoes. I found that I clamped 100% of the time and it was just a natural progression to go to double ended clampless clamps.

Pros
  • GOLS certified
Cons
  • Slightly torn

Love my new cleats and clipless pedals

There are some cleats and some pedals in the box. They are ideal for beginners who want to gain a foothold but are afraid of falling. They're easy to take off and reversible, so you don't have to think too much. Love them and haven't dropped them yet after using them once on the trail and again on breaks and commuting. If you ride a bike, it's worth clipping and it's effortless.

Cons
  • Can't remember

Easy to install and set up, a little heavy. Yes, spikes included

This is a worthwhile purchase. Spikes are included. They install in minutes and are easy to set up. It's odd that they come right out of the box with quite a free attitude. Turn the adjustment screw clockwise until you hear a click to tighten. 4 intensity levels. They're a bit heavy, but accessible from either side of the pedal. Set them up and forget them.

Pros
  • New
Cons

The pedals are good. Don't use sh-56 cleats

I've ridden about 500 miles on these pedals. The pedals are good value for money. They work fine. The included sh-56 spikes are terrible. I've used Sh-51 spikes and they work well. sh-56 cleats make pedaling dangerous because you keep coming off the pedal. It only took me a few miles to see what others were saying for myself. Also, you need to adjust the pedals with the adjustment screws to ensure a stable attachment. Now for the long-term mileage test. If they span +12,000 miles it will be aโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Pretty packaging
Cons
  • Lots of stuff

Well balanced pedal and ideal for a road bike.

I bought these pedals for my road bike because I just got new mountaineering boots and it was cheaper than buying new road shoes. So glad I did. They are fairly well balanced and I don't have any clipping issues (contrary to what I've read for Shimano PD-ES600). However, the included cleats are primarily for turning and you can take them right off the pedal without twisting them. If you want to ride and not spin I would buy a pair of Shimano cleats 51. The factory settings were pretty light soโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • A dodgy purchase for seniors

Very loose, opens too easily

4 stars because it's a great product but even in the tightest position it's still quite loose and I open too easily. Sometimes when I press the pedal too fast they disengage and it's very frustrating when I'm running or climbing. But I would still buy it again, just something to note. Also, they're not that easy. February 2019: Rating Update - changed from 4 stars to 1 star. Even on the hardest setting it loosened even more and now I have to buy new ones. Every time I start running or climbing,

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Requires socket
