This lens exceeded all my expectations!

I bought this lens mainly because it had good reviews everywhere. The first thing that struck me upon arrival was how well built and heavy it is. I'm not against the weight and it actually tells me that this is a good quality product. After taking a few shots both outdoors and indoors, I quickly noticed how sharp it was at all focal lengths. At f/2.8 it's sharp even wide open, and I like that the aperture stays at f/2.8 throughout the zoom range. I needed a second quality lens to start my…

Razor Sharp 50mm at F2.8

I bought this lens specifically for portraiture on my Canon 7d Mark II. I did some macro test shots on my patio to see what this lens can do at a 50mm f2.8 wide angle. Looking at images captured in Lightroom turned out to be a Razor Sharp lens. I couldn't tell this lens apart from any of my Canon lenses. Below is a list of the Canon lenses I own. 17-40mm f4 L, 50mm f1.4, 85mm f1.8, 70-300 f4-5.6 L and 100-400mm f4-5.6 Mark II L. Under real shooting conditions, if you do his part of the job…

The best upgrade from the kit lens

. This lens is an excellent product. Especially if you're just an enthusiast looking for a fast lens and don't want to pay for professional grade glass. F2.8 is cool (nice bokeh). The only star I take is that the autofocus is REALLY loud. I usually shoot video and edit it to add music so it doesn't bother me, but when I need to capture dialogue from a moving subject, my Canon SL2's amazing dual autofocus results in horrible continuous shooting with this lens. clicking sound. Yes I know it's not

A bit loud for my taste, but also my new favorite lens!

Everything about it works great! The stabilizer is just fantastic, the zoom range and lens hood are included. My only complaint is that the focus mechanics are very noisy. If I was just taking photos it wouldn't matter much, but I also shoot professional videos and I can't have that little noise in the background. I would also say that the widest zoom is not exactly 50mm. I have a Canon 50mm Prime and this Prime is a bit further out so I will still have the 50mm on hand in case I need a little…

I used this with my Canon 7D MII and for the price the lens worked right from the start. It was a significant improvement over standard f2.8 fixed aperture lenses. It performs reasonably well in high light, but suffers in low light, a lot of hunting and fast-paced sports. I've often gotten soft images, especially when subjects are backlit. Since it was mostly either this lens or a 70-200mm lens, I never fell in love with my 7DMii. I ended up switching to 2L 16-35 and 24-70 f2.8 lenses and it…

My new video lens on my SL2

I've been using the 18-55mm kit lens since I bought my Canon SL2 which I use for video recording. It does its job reasonably well, but compared to the Sigma 17-50mm there is a day/night difference. Literally! This lens is a game changer for videos where previously the slightest hint of low light would distort my shot. Now I can shoot clearly in low light. In addition, the stabilization is excellent. This lens is my current lens and you can't beat the value! My only criticism of this lens is the
