I archived all my family photos and videos on this drive and kept it on the shelf for several months. When I plugged it back into my desktop computer, the drive was no longer visible. The LED is on, the bell in Windows is off, but there is no disk on This PC. I'm so glad I have backup copies of my photos on other drives, otherwise I would be devastated! What good is a durable drive if it won't last less than a year on your shelf? Buy this drive if you want to risk losing all your valuable data.

This delicate baby is very high quality and durable. The chassis (body) is made of alloy and is very durable. This device doesn't seem cheap at all. The drive speeds are all available and have been tested. The cord is small but very dense and will not deteriorate in the near future. Two 1TB Silicon Power drives have been in use for almost a year and one 750GB drive for much longer. They work. I haven't heard the slightest hint of noise from any of them, and they sit about half a meter from my ears.
