I recently shot fireworks. My DSLR was mounted on a tripod and I used the remote shutter release. I installed this adapter on my camera's hot shoe and then mounted my "Flip" camcorder over it. While these two devices can capture both stills and video, this duo allowed me to use both cameras simultaneously in the role each does best.

He does his job. The screw-in mechanism is great for making sure whatever you attach is lined up correctly. The hot shoe adapter is pretty loose, so it doesn't inspire much confidence. Overall I would recommend it for the price and its adaptability (I used 2 different phone adapters and was able to line them both up perfectly).

Extremely handy for do-it-yourself installation or simply adding accessories to an existing installation. Of course, you can connect them directly to your camera's hot shoe, allowing you to add a microphone or video light with a 1/4" mount instead of a hot shoe mount. I have used these on a dual hot shoe L-Bracket to mount a pistol mic and video light on my portable rig and they fit perfectly for this. I wish they were a hair cheaper, but they're so useful I can't complain.

I want to give this mount five stars for build quality, but this mount has a major design flaw. I have a D750 and the mount fits the hot shoe quite snugly, but as soon as I tighten it it starts to wobble. No matter how tight I tighten it just doesn't get tight enough to fully engage. I believe this is due to the beveled edges of the hot shoe mount leaving some room on the sides. SMALLRIG, has anyone experienced this issue with your products?

Bought after reading reviews and pictures posted by customers. I have used this with a RetiCam mount for use on a DSLR but after fitting and tightening it ALWAYS wobbled at a 20 degree angle, not consistent with the DSLR. It's really weird that the phone is tilted in a different direction than the DSLR itself. Also, while I assume it's a Reticam mount bug, the top screw (1/4" thread) is used to align and Tightening used to keep the bracket aligned undertightened enough in this configuration…

He does what he says. It's designed to be used as an adapter for devices that mount in a hot shoe, or as a 1/4 screw for cameras, flashes, tripod mounts, etc. It works both ways as you can screw in from one end of use the hot shoe from the other.
