Works great - knife sharpener

This really sharpens scissors. I have sharpened sewing scissors, barber scissors, etc. At first I didn't think it would work because the scissors were very difficult to get through the machine, but the sharper the scissors got the easier it went. I am very happy with this gadget.

Pros
  • Fingers crossed
Cons
  • Will do

Terrible - breaks instantly

Wanted to use this with scissors. I have used other sharpeners like this one. Put the scissors in the slot and as soon as I start pulling the scissors out, the carbide sharpener snaps. There's not a lot of pressure on him. Light scissors. waste of money. Don't send them back, I just threw them in the trash. There has never been a set like this before. Others lasted until the carbide rod wore out. I may have gotten a bad one, but I won't try the cheap ones again.

Pros
  • Don't waste too much time

Lasts Infinitely - Knife Sharpener

Lasts Infinitely - Our Kitchen Uses Revane says we bought it 14 years ago and it's still going strong. I just bought a second one for sharpening garden knives. Simple, easy to use - doesn't work with VERY thick cleavers and heavy duty commercial butcher knives (too wide) but works with everything in our kitchen except the cleaver. Also works on serrated knives if they are smooth, with wide curves - not on knives with small serrated or serrated edges. The ones you need a Dremel tool or hand file

Pros
  • Positive Only
Cons
  • No Form Required

Don't waste your money

We use high quality scissors every day in our quality control lab and it's important that they are sharp. Our old sharpener is finally worn out after many years of service and is no longer available. I was looking for this type of sharpener and decided to try this one after Walmart's cheap Fiskers model failed to cut it. I'm glad I only bought one because it's a piece of junk! Actually made the scissors worse and I had to try and save them with a cheap Fiskers model. Bad stone angles, plastic…

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Nothing

Love love love - my scissors will be reborn!

A few months ago my scissors buckled and drove me crazy. So I decided to sharpen them on my knife sharpener. I tried three of my favorite scissors and was surprised that it didn't help at all, just made things worse. So my husband does a quick google search and tells me he read that if you use scissors on a knife sharpener you are actually ruining them (I had no idea!) and I was heartbroken and angry at myself myself. But on a whim I decided to check out Revain to see what types of sharpeners…

Pros
  • Good thing
Cons
  • For pensioners

The right choice for refreshing inexpensive cutlery

This combination knife/scissors sharpener can sharpen old, dull blades in seconds. This is my go-to solution for sharpening inexpensive cutlery, hunting knives and utility scissors. You won't make a $150 wustof out of a $10 chef's knife, but you'll certainly make slicing tomatoes easier! Be careful: this is not a precise instrument. Do not use it on high quality cutlery unless you are certain the specified sharpening angle is appropriate for your particular knife. A quick Google search can save

Pros
  • Quick Change
Cons
  • Expensive

Twenty years ago I bought a knife sharpener with an almost identical design. I don't remember the brand anymore, the logo was deleted. But they were extremely easy to use (compared to whetstones), the knives were almost as sharp as whetstones, and it was much faster than pulling out stones. Eventually it wore out and I found it easier to buy a new one than trying to find the right blades. Because the design and performance of the new and old sharpener appear to be identical. I'm assuming it…
