The instructions are far from good. Even after watching videos on You Tube I found that some details were left out. I'm very mechanical by nature but still had to take the time to double check everything. The carrier is as strong as stone and works like glass when done right. Best advice is to make sure the gate is latched very securely and I would also tape where the gate meets the bodywork to ensure there is no movement when the original hinges are removed and the new retainer installed. I like the concept and the performance. The hinge is so tight that I ruined the star screws because it didn't open wide enough to allow access for installation. Mine is on the garage floor and the door is still locked. I can't use the Jeep until I have new bolts. We were a little concerned about the 35" tire and wheel configuration on the standard liftgate carrier. Too much weight and too many bumps. , I love everything about this carrier. It's durable and very well made (even though it's made in China). But, my god, those instructions suck. To be honest they are about three steps away from the puddle. Tip: Youtube has a video on how to install this thing. 2 very important points, one of which I made and the other didn't. As already mentioned, the instructions are nonsense. The attached photos do not help. I installed it in a couple of hours, trying to follow the instructions and using some YouTube videos as well. Overall it's ok, but even though I locked it when I changed the hinges, it still sags a bit when unlocking.
