Excellent Ratchet - Power & Hand Tools

I've been using this tool every day for the past few weeks. I consider this one of my best ratchets. Ease of movement, powerful ratchet system and excellent ergonomics. It has everything I expect from a ratchet.

    Proto Pear Shaped Low Profile

I've been using cheap ratchets for a long time. The last one I used exploded in my hand trying to pry open the caliper mounting bolt. I received this in the mail today; Try it and it will work like a charm. The 11" offers good leverage and the slim profile is great for working in tight spaces around the car.

This is a very beautiful and durable tool

This is a very beautiful and durable tool. I have one of these in all three sizes (1/4, 3/8 and 1/2) and have found that the ratchet isn't always perfect (especially the 3/8 sizes). Sometimes, when the screws are loosened very quickly, the teeth of the ratchet "pop" a little and snap. I've tried Super Lube (sparingly) but it didn't help. I think it's just a design feature of these ratchets. Shame about that little blemish, otherwise this range of ratchets would be (in my opinion) the best money

Didn't last long and Revain customer service sucks

Looks immediately impressed. Nice chrome and feels good in the hand. The mechanism isn't smooth and it's not a million tooth drivetrain, but the reason my rating is 1 star is because it broke almost immediately and I didn't abuse it at all. The key still looks like new. But it broke, I quickly removed the locking clip and looked to the rear, I found many small pieces of metal and it looks like the pin on the cradle was cut off and the rest is history. Currently jumping through hoops to try and…

and was very disappointed when the gear in the ratchet broke.

I'm a power plant mechanic by trade and have used proto tools my entire career. They've always been tough, dependable tools and I've never had a problem with them. I bought this ratchet for my home tool box and was very disappointed when the gear in the ratchet broke the first time I used it. Especially since I only turned the crankshaft to align the time marks on the engine I was working on. I hope it was just a faulty tool and not a design flaw, I also have all the other sizes of this ratchet

    Great construction

Just received today and at first glance this is a very well built ratchet. I was surprised how easy the ratchet is and how well balanced it is in the hand. Used for general farm equipment and home vehicle repair/maintenance. Since we are far from Sears (about 100 miles), the Craftsman was out of the question for warranty and exchange trips. Not that the proto-distributor is any closer, but I would like to reduce the frequency of warranty returns by improving quality. 28 years in existence and…

Exactly what I was looking for

Looks and feels like a reliable quality tool. The only thing that bothers me is the smooth grip. I really don't understand the industry trend towards smooth, shiny tools. They are difficult to grasp with clean hands. Put some oil or grease on it and it gets worse. It has a pair of knurled rings which is better than most currently but I wish the grip area was fully knurled. The long handle provides extra leverage and the 45-tooth gearing maintains more torque. You'll have to rotate the handle a…

    • Unbelievable price

This is a non-locking F80. It doesn't look like it, and if you like thin teeth, this ratchet might not be for you. I want to start with a brand, I have many prototypes and have never been disappointed! This 45-tooth ratchet features a smooth, durable mechanism and an 8-12 degree arc angle. I'm an industrial electrician, low swing isn't a necessity, durability is important. After breaking a Stanley 72 punching bag for my assistants (which is the closest I can get), I wanted something more…
