Good belt cords: tarpaulin and drawstrings

I have a 1920's house that needed some belt cords replaced. My local store didn't have sash cord of the right gauge (thin) so I ordered these. It matches the weave and gauge of my old lines and works well.

Pros
  • very noticeable
Cons
  • out of fashion

Definitely good for anything other than drying laundry

Used to keep a buoy in place at a depth of 30-40 feet in the Lake of the Ozarks without a trace. So far it has been holding like a steel cable since April 17th. Definitely good for uses other than drying laundry!

Pros
  • Nice to use
Cons
  • Negative gift

Great for window slider cord

I used to be able to buy one at our hardware store but then I stopped lugging it around. I live in a 100 year old bungalow with double glazed windows that work and are original. This cord is perfect. It doesn't seem to stretch and doesn't look durable, but it's only been on the windows for a month.

great buffalo! fits gear

Haven't hung windows before but the weight of this rope tells me it's far superior to anything I can find locally. This brand was recommended to me by Scott on the Craftsman blog (who loves old wooden windows as much as I do) So far so good! After giving up the windows and using them for about 10 years I'm going on (haha)

Pros
  • Quality construction

Good product! Traditional Cotton Belt With Synthetic Core

This is a great product. Matches the original decades old cotton belts but with a synthetic inner core so I expect it to retain its strength as the cotton ages and becomes brittle. Home Depot and Lowes only sell fully synthetic Chinese-made belts in this size, and they just don't have the same traditional look.

Pros
  • Confident
Cons
  • Unbelievable Price

The Evans cable works great as I have a lot of windows to replace.

I live in this old house with 39 double windows and my son's craft house has more windows. The TW Evans cable works great as I have to replace a lot of window cables. I've tried other brands of window cords that are available locally, but TW Evans' cord looks original thanks to the cotton outer layer that hides the reinforcing nylon core.

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • Slightly torn

Excellent Quality - Cord

Worked great to replace damaged cords on 10 windows in a very old house recently bought. As far as I can tell it is good quality cotton, the same material as the original waist ties. Larger diameter than many cords I've replaced but still works well. I like that it's just white. Conclusion: If I was really looking forward to the new waistband cords, it would probably justify it.

Pros
  • Very Good Price
Cons
  • Mostly fine but...

Excellent casement cable

I threw away (and revised accordingly) my last purchase. I don't remember the manufacturer. THIS rope is excellent. It's a stiff fabric so it doesn't stretch or leave weight on the bottom. He had no noticeable weaknesses or weaknesses. The windows use a 40 pound weight per sash plus a similar weight cast iron weight/counterweight. I highly recommend this product... TW Evans

Pros
  • New
Cons
  • A minor change

I bought this to replace the clothesline that runs from my second floor kitchen window to a two story pole 40 feet from my yard. The only way to access the rear reel in the backyard is to climb a two story pole, which I won't do. Therefore, the only way to replace the clothesline is to reattach it to the existing clothesline. (Sew the 2" end of the new line securely to the old line, trim the old line, and then gently tug on the old line while you pull the new line into place). Obviously, this…

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • weak
