Description of ๐Ÿ”ง TEKTON 3/8 Inch Drive Composite Quick-Release Ratchet (Model 1457) - 7 Inch Length

72-tooth gear produces a working swing arc of just 5 degrees. Quick-release drive tang locks securely on to sockets so they won't accidentally fall off. Strong, one-piece chrome vanadium steel head and handle. Tough poly shell stays comfortable in cold temperatures and prevents accidental contact damage to nearby surfaces. Offset handle design with soft, nonslip grip gives fingers extra clearance.

. and adapters) feeling it would be a good tool at an affordable price

I bought this 3/8" ratchet and other Tekton tools (heads and adapters) feeling it would be a good cheap tool. Two thirds of my order was like this. Ratchet a bit let down. Don't get me wrong it has a lot of potential, it's just that I received mine and it was broken or defective. The shift mechanism on the back of the Ratchet would not stay engaged and would also occasionally jam the ratchet Upon closer inspection I found that the torx head screw holding the lever in place spins freely as ifโ€ฆ

Pros
  • This is amazing

Controls are upside down, connectors fall off

I like the weight and feel of a large handle and the ratchet is smooth. I don't like that the derailleur is backwards compared to every other ratchet I've ever used. Tighten the switch on the right! The cover of the ratchet is soft. In the photo after removing only one screw, which was in a difficult place. I also have a 1/4 ratchet but I can't see it for some reason. 1/4 won't hold sockets or extension cords and they keep falling off. I wouldn't recommend a quarter inch. I don't know ifโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Tough polypropylene body provides comfort in cold temperatures and prevents accidental damage to adjacent surfaces

Tekton Composite on wrenches

I have tools from different manufacturers, mainly Snap On and Mac. When I have a 1/2 socket, it's usually on the end of a percussion gun or flex-head, long-handled ratchet instead of a standard ratchet. So when it came time to buy a standard 1/2 drive ratchet I didn't want to spend a lot of money as I rarely used it, but since I was spoiled by my snap-on 80 tooth ratchet, I still wish I had a fine-toothed ratchet. I started looking and found a 72 tooth compound ratchet. For the price it wasโ€ฆ

Pros
  • 72 tooth gear only offers 5 degree working angle

  • No power

72 teeth on this ratchet

I wanted to buy a 90 or 120 tooth ratchet as I thought it would be better for loosening bolts but realized that she wouldn't mount the next plate to go into space, or removing trucker bolts, so I found a 72-tooth ratchet better suited for most of my jobs. I have another 72 ton ratchet but it didn't last as long because it came with the kit. This one seems more like a true 72 ratchet because it doesn't vibrate much when you turn the drive and it can handle at least 18 pounds of torque, so I give

Pros
  • Strong one piece chrome vanadium steel head and handle
Cons
  • There are new competitors
