Do not trust this strip

I have used the strips before without any problem. (I can't remember if they were Tetra). I know they aren't as accurate as the API test kits, but they worked for me. This batch of Tetra test strips is terribly inaccurate. I've been going to the new tank for about a month but I didn't want to add any fish because my pH kept going back to 6.3. (my tap water is 7.0) My LFS recommended a Seachem 7.0 ph buffer to restore the pH. After 3 weeks of intensive buffer dosing, nothing has changed. I've…

Does NOT accurately test for nitrates.

This is a very handy test kit that will accurately test everything except nitrate. Specifically, it tests nitrite, chlorine, hardness, pH, and alkalinity, and the results seem accurate compared to other brands' test results. I was suspicious of my nitrate test results and tested tap water, Brita filtered water and Aquafina bottled water. The nitrate results were off the chart for all samples. I checked with a different brand of kit and my suspicions were confirmed. All results were the same for

fast but semi-accurate

First, they are very easy to use. Ammonia tests simply dip for 15 seconds, shake and observe. Another test is to dive and wait a minute. I confirmed the accuracy of both with a second test set. They're mostly accurate, but don't really have a huge range of colors. This is problematic when tuning a tank and trying to see if a given range increases or decreases. The colors on the strip are too similar to tell. For example, ammonia at 1 ppm looks very close to 5 ppm. It's very difficult to tell…

Almost exactly what I needed. Nearly.

I ordered this for a quick and dirty test for my reef aquarium that will tell me in under a minute if anything could be seriously wrong and if it's time to get out of the big test break out, which takes longer. This kit seemed ideal to me as it had almost all my necessary parameters. But. I'm deducting a star because while these strips should be sufficient for my needs, nowhere in the product literature does it mention that some of the tests are for freshwater only. GH and chlorine are not…

Good accuracy for tapes; handy when you're in a hurry

Any serious fish lover will tell you that test strips are worse than real test kits. However, in parallel tests, these strips gave results very close to my test set,** with the exception of pH. ** These bars consistently show about half a point less than my API Master test kit. The good news is that the nitrite and nitrate readings were always accurate across multiple parallel tests. While some hobbyists will disagree with me, I do think test strips have a place as an additional form of…

Freshwater/Seawater Test Strips

I was a bit confused at first when I received this product. When I looked at the photos on Revain, I expected to receive a box of 25 individually wrapped 7-in-1 test strips, but what I received was a blister pack containing two plastic bottles. To be honest I thought I had received the wrong product at first, but after reading them I realized I hadn't paid attention to the details. The complete kit contains 25 ammonia test strips + 25 6-in-1 test strips for everything else. They're much less…

Dangerously inaccurate results

I was new to fish care when I bought these test strips as I unexpectedly got a sick fish earlier this year. For a while I thought these strips would work well for me. I even repeat - I bought them once. My fish has had it's ups and downs in the time I've had it and as a beginner nurse fish I never seem to be able to get it fully healthy. When troubleshooting problems after the recent burglary, a local fish shop recommended using a chemistry test kit instead of strips, as such kits are generally
