I have ordered a second pair for my son

later. A bit expensive but good. Went with them in Belgium and they did great and still brought them back to the States well. To update. Gave these to my kid for Christmas and we got 2 real pedals. When trying to get an exchange, we got an exchange. good to go Just follow the pin every now and then

Has worked well so far

Failed, I weigh >90kg and have encountered many stones and they have continued to work as they should. Crankbros hammers have been ridden in the past, they are a little firmer but are of a similar design. The legs don't accidentally come loose, but they also don't droop too much, break, or nearly break.

Pros
  • Good thing
Cons
  • Very expensive

These pedals are great for MTB BMX or Cyclocross. I have a few on my MTB and a few on cross/gravel bikes. Easy entry into muddy and wet conditions and you won't accidentally slip out...no problem. I would recommend it to anyone in any cycling situation you come across!

It's the middle of winter. How should I know?

I've been using Time ATAC pedals for about fifteen years. And they were all aluminum body pedals. If you look at today's reviews, you'll find many complaints about the spring releases. In fact, my local bike shop (lbs) doesn't sell them for this reason. The problem appears to be with the composite materials currently used, both plastic and carbon, rather than the overall design. The aluminum body makes the Speciale 8 MTB ATAC pedals great. My cleats broke easily

2 pedals with right-hand thread.

UPDATE: Revain Prime got me a new set of petals in less than two days and this time fixed the spindle threads! I love these pedals in the short time I've ridden 3 miles on them. excited to be back on clickless. bauuu, I screwed up and didn't check the left/right spindle threads. I thought my left crank snapped off and never thought to check 2 right hand thread spindles. Both of my pedals were right-hand threaded as in the previous review. Surprisingly, I slightly misunderstood lol, but I…

Great update from XC Times

I've been using Time pedals for 18 years, mostly XC versions. Over the past few years I have been dissatisfied with the durability of my XC 8, 6 and 12 pedals and have broken 3 pairs from rockfalls. I mainly ride trail bikes which tend to get a lot more rock chips than my XC bikes with higher bottom brackets. I've been using MX8 models for about a year, they're blast proof in terms of durability, but the large platform area causes a lot of rock chips on my trail/enduro bikes. The Special 8s…

Metal platform mini pedal with awesome float

I have been mountain biking (XC and Enduro) with Time pedals for over 20 years. First with 2 pairs of XS (grey and very reliable), then XS 12 in carbon (black and red, very bad R&D), then XS again. These Speciale pedals are solid metal construction with a small platform (compared to flat ones). This includes 4 threaded mini cleats that you insert into the pedal for eventual traction with a soft rubber outsole. You can see in the photos my Specialized Tahoe has nothing to do with these pins. I…

  • This is amazing

Rode Time pedals for years - won't ride them anymore!

I've spent many years riding Time pedals generation after generation. I won't ride her anymore. Five reasons: 1. They tend to fail 5-10% of the time resulting in damage to the bike/you.2. You can't buckle up quickly - if you're descending on a technical trail (or technical and uphill) your only option is to hike, even if you have a strong trail. They often spend 5-10 feet superficially trying to hook the other leg. The supposed benefit of "floating" for your knees is false. Shimano pedals have…

  • Great construction

  • Crumpled packaging
