According to doctor's prescription

According to doctor's prescription. Genuine Timken bearing and snap ring. This is an OEM bearing that cracked in an accident. To install it you need a hydraulic press, it is impossible to install it on the axis without a press. I have my own 12 ton press, but any machine shop will press it if you don't have one.

Pros
  • Hard-wearing
Cons
  • Many things

Timken stock - "Nuff said!

The best! I've used a Timken for over 35 years and couldn't find it locally, so I was reluctant to use "Duralast" in Dodge. As soon as it was pressed onto the shaft and I fitted the axle I heard an awkward hum so I removed the axle. The camp has already fallen apart! I cut it, bought it, pressed it on and mounted it. Quiet and smooth. I knew better too. That's the worst part. This is Timken; this is the best.

Pros
  • Everything is fine!
Cons
  • Expensive

Fits perfectly - BUT - See my fitment tips

Fits Dana 35C (according to fitment sheet - but there were no C-clips on axle?) on a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee SE 4.0L/2WD. OK after 1000km. INSTALLATION TIPS: The included collar is thinner than the OEM, but the width of the bearing determines the functional distance between the axles, so don't worry. Use a 17/64 drill bit and a cold chisel to remove the old clutch - EASY. Cut/notch/remove the old clip with a diamond blade and cold chisel. *REPLACE the bearing retainer plate as the old one can…

OEM QUALITY AND PERFORMANCE

OEM quality/performance. The cost is much lower than OEM. Installation and Removal Tips: Remove the caliper; Caliper Brackets - 18mm Bolt. Remove the axle oil seal retaining plate - 4 nuts, 14mm. Use allen wrenches, sockets. Bolts and nuts are subject to corrosion. Use a slide hammer to remove the axles. A hydraulic press is required to properly install the bearings and circlips/rings onto the axle. Retaining rings/rings can be removed and installed in most automotive workshops. Estimated time…

Finally a reliable bearing!

Believe it or not, I ran through three different sets of Chinese bearings for a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee with a Dana 35 axle. I installed the first one myself and after six months the seal was leaking and the bearing broke into pieces, so I had to go to the shop a second time because the SUV was in a different condition with a family member. When she got home a week later, the second bearing was in bad shape and the stuffing box was leaking. We sourced both parts from a reputable national parts

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • New competitors appeared
