Cadillac Peepholes

This is a beautiful and well designed peephole. The picture is crystal clear. I've used silicone sealant on the outside and inside and haven't had any condensation issues so far. In fact, I mismeasured the thickness of the door. Measure the thinnest part of the door. I was Lucy, although the viewer still fits. After a test run, I reinstalled the sight glass with Loctite for a secure permanent fixation. It would be easier if the sight glass had multiple notches to make tightening easier.

There are two sizes of these

I bought the small version of this viewer and I liked it so much that I ordered the larger model (this one). They're identical except for the size, and as you might expect, this larger one is better. Larger field of view and you can stand further away from the peephole and see outside clearly. They can move a foot or more. This large model costs almost twice as much as the small one. Whether it's worth the extra money is up to you. I think so, although I now have an extra viewer that sits in my

Peephole Heavy Duty

After seeing little peepholes at your local hardware store I found this item at Revain. When I got the new viewer I knew I had made the right choice because it's bigger and has a wider field of view and a strong lens cap. Since I was installing on a metal door, I also purchased the correct size hole saw that was offered to the viewer. This made the installation very easy. I would also suggest putting a small bead of clear silicone around the outer flange to keep water out. Really no…

Highly recommended Good fit for peepholes

When I took the peephole out of the box I was impressed by its weight and perceived build quality. I installed it on my door in about 25 minutes and couldn't be happier. It looks pretty big, but you'll quickly get used to the look and you'll love how much you can see through. One thing I looked for when buying one of these is the privacy panel. This will prevent anyone from outside looking into your home. With this viewer, the platter spins freely and feels high quality, with no scratches or…

Useless, shod in less than 24 hours

I installed it the day it arrived. It mounts easily to a metal exterior door protected from the elements by a large overhanging roof. Visibility was excellent and I had high hopes that it would be an improvement over the old squeak which was a lot less and it stayed that way until the next day. During the night the humidity reached the dew point (this is Florida where it's always muggy) and the next morning condensation formed inside the lens (which is sealed) rendering the peephole unusable…

Beautiful door viewer

The required opening in your door is large enough. The advantage is that it collects and transmits light very well. The glass optics make it very visible (unlike cheap eyes with plastic lenses). The lens is 0.675 inch (17 mm) in diameter. On the inside is a hinged cover that blocks the viewer. Installation: I used a 1-1/8" Forstner bit. A 1-1/8" hole saw will also work. The 1.125" (1-1/8") diameter drill bit gives you little room to install a 1.10" diameter shaft. It's easier to install a…

Dimensions in description are incorrect

Purchased to replace an existing 9/16" peephole. I was very careful with measurements and took the time to read product descriptions when I went shopping. I wanted to buy something exactly the same size. The Revain description for this item states that it fits a 9/16" bore hole. As soon as I opened the box, I noticed that this peephole was significantly larger than 9/16" in diameter. The diameter printed on the box shows that the top diameter is actually 1-1/2" and the tube diameter is 1-1/10"…

Good product. Very satisfied.

I've had this peephole for a long time and I really like it. The sight tube is slightly larger than many others I've reviewed and offers a better field of view. The hinged lid on the peephole is a nice touch. The device remained clean (not fogged up) during various climatic changes: heat, rain and now also frost. Following a suggestion I saw, prior to installing the unit, I applied a thin coat of silicone sealant to the inner and outer flanges to keep moisture out. Since I didn't have the right

Is the TU worth it?

I am a craftsman and repairman. I installed this viewer at the back door of the doctor's office that leads to the back parking lot. I believe that this viewer has both strong pluses and strong minuses. I ended up having to buy a second viewer (partially my fault) after a major failure of the first one. Think; I wouldn't install a second time if I didn't think the end product was worth it. Pros: - The viewer works well (clear view, wide angle, large viewing aperture, inner cover of the viewer) -
