I have brought back the TomTom Universal Dashboard Mount. The problem isn't with the TomTom Dashboard Mount itself. The material and workmanship of this mount seems very solid but I have a big design issue. As you can see in the picture, the smooth disc (where the TomTom suction mount attaches) is inserted fairly deep into the base. Had real trouble keeping sat nav on windscreen. When this happened, I didn't like constantly looking up to see it and leaning forward to make changes. With that all problems were solved. The device stays on the mount with no problems. And I have no issues with the mount sliding on the dashboard. It's flexible enough to conform to the curves of my dashboard. Got this to replace an older TomTom horseshoe mount as it was quite chipped and scratched in this Iowa landscape. I am very happy with this new mount as it is less angular (doesn't take up as much dashboard space) but holds up just as well if not better than the original mount. No problem so far - even with a large (7 inch) sat nav this mount keeps it in place even during sudden stops or sharp turns. It's fairly unobtrusive and doesn't take up too much space on the dashboard, it's a minor issue, it seems to work fine with my Magellan GPS.
