Description of Enhance Your Concrete Installation with Tools 1870568 Performance
Built for maximum durability and long life with impact drivers. Innovative pressed carbide tip with aggressive cutting angles for faster drilling and longer bit life. One-piece construction withstands higher torque loads than standard quick-change bits. Black oxide finish resists corrosion and increases life of bit.
Bought two, one as a spare. When drilling through a concrete block with a hammer drill, I wasn't able to drill a single hole with each of them before they wore out and became unusable. The attached picture shows a new drill next to one that has barely penetrated 1/4" into the block. The new drill met the same fate.
Pros
Innovative pressed carbide tip with aggressive cutting angles for faster drilling and longer bit life
This bit performs very well for drilling 4" deep holes in my septic tank with a high ratio of fine aggregate to concrete. I use a Skil 1/2" impact hammer to drill it and it takes a few minutes per hole. I was planning to use a screwdriver adapter compatible with this drill bit to drive the TAP screws into the concrete, but in my case an impact is required to install the screw tool.
Pros
One-piece construction withstands higher torque loads than standard quick-change drill bits
I'm a big fan of Irwin's high performance bits and drills with impact properties. They are very well made, durable and accurate. You are no different. They feel heavy and hard and are durable, staying sharp even after repeated use. Much better than the cheap bits that come with screws. The 1/4" hex shank allows for impact use so you don't have to lug the drill around and bang on the job site. smack or, if you have a socket, put it on this bit and tighten the screw.
Pros
Black oxide coating resists corrosion and extends drill life
