Fatigue early

The design of this handlebar is solid and exactly what I expected and wanted, but unfortunately mine didn't hold up after a 10 mile "technical rehearsal" on paved trails to rest and then not / broke less than 4 miles on my first century trip on an organized trip. It's also clear that its design wasn't rigid enough to fit a small action cam in front of my bike's handlebars. As can be seen in the photos and even in the video that captured the tragic moment of the accident, the lower end of the…

B+ for the design concept, F minus for the performance

The screw that attaches the base to the handlebar or seatpost does not hold well and is hidden so it cannot be tightened without closing the main body of the device remove. Then you need to tighten another screw to secure the rest of the device and then another for positioning. As a result, it's far more tedious and difficult than any bike light or handlebar-mounted device I've ever used on a bike. So be prepared for at least a few tries before setting it up where you want it. And finally…

In theory I really like this extension and I'll try again, but it's too easy to overtighten. I installed it and it seemed tight enough, but it has loosened over time. I put it on once and over time it loosened up again. I decided to take it apart and put it back on with some kind of threadlocker, but upon inspection I found it wasn't actually a loose clamp screw; the hole in the strap through which the screw goes has lengthened due to over-tightening. When I tried to put it back on I tried not…

Difficult to assemble - parts and components

Had to buy because my new aero bars take up almost the entire width of my bars. I also have one of these on another bike and forgot how difficult it is to install them. The aluminum strip on the top right of the photo wraps around the handlebars and has holes in it. The body is divided in two with a screw (hidden in the photo) that needs to be passed through two holes in the strap and screwed into the nut. The problem is that you have to get the screw through two holes while the holes are…

I can know if things will fit on my road bike.

I have a Trek 1.2 and due to the oversized frame it is extremely difficult to find quality lamps to match. Out of the box it's solid and well built with the right instructions for use. To attach to the bike, you need to remove the screw from the base unit, adjust the metal part on the bottom, and then insert the screw. I had trouble getting the base back in place towards the end of the adjustment layer, but with some effort it worked. Once on the bike you can adjust the incline on the middle…

Difficult to install but worth it in the end.

Unfortunately, it takes up more space than most devices due to the base. It also uses a screw to press down on the handlebars where it's mounted, which keeps the tape it's also threaded through from sagging, which will leave visible marks later when you remove your bike vendor gear. Everything else was as promised. I would have preferred longer strips, one for 4 devices and offset by an inch or more. I was very disappointed with the amount of space it took up as my computer was on an offset…

Well made and strong

I received this bar extender to replace a 4.5" Minoura swivel bar. The problem with the other extension was that it wasn't stable enough. The Topeak extension is slightly smaller but feels more durable. The mechanism for gripping the metal strap is almost identical to that of the Minoura. It works well but is a bit painful to put on properly. You need to make sure you put it in the correct hole (there are 3 of them) for your rod size. It feels secure when you first tighten it, but if the knob…
