Good router but doesn't support Time Machine

This router seems like pretty good hardware, but while it has USB settings to support an attached USB hard drive for Time Machine backups (the Mac OS version of NAS backups), it works for those goals not right. . This allows Time Machine to see the drive, but it has never been able to back up using a drive previously used for this purpose. Been trying for about a week with no success; There was no Time Machine documentation for troubleshooting. Since that was the only reason I bought this…

Router monster - handles a lot of work and long range!

We recently cut the cable and are streaming everything by switching to Verizon FIOS Internet. So now we have 2 TVs plus 5 phones and 3 teenagers who play a lot. This put a lot of strain on the previous router, which honestly wasn't bad (ASUS AC1900). The big problem was that the TV in our master bedroom couldn't get a reliable enough signal to stream (it's the farthest point from the router). I read the reviews on this TP link and hoped it could handle the load. Not only does it cope with the…

Long range, interface a bit shaky

The range of this device is amazing. I have a two story, 2,500 square foot house and this hotspot is in my garage at one end of the house. Setup was easy. The web interface has everything you need, but it seems that you don't have to do anything convenient. UI/UX overhaul required. I really like that you can backup your settings and easily check for updates. Traffic monitoring is good too (although the interface is tedious: sorting, exporting and showing all items at once would be really good).

Pros
  • Finally bought it
Cons
  • No performance

Good router. Stable connection.

Installation was easy. Signal level is similar to Frontier FIOS modem/router. Signal strength in the garage was weak for me, best where the router is placed exactly where my Frontier router is. Not too many complaints but like moving to WiFi 6. WiFi security needs updating in firmware. It only offers WPA/WPA2, not the new WPA2/WPA3 security standard. This isn't a complaint other than my iPhone marked it as having weak encryption/security. For security I have set WPA2-PSK with AES encryption. I…

The best WiFi 6 router. Has a 2.5 Gb/s WAN port.

High performance and excellent coverage for a large home. My provider switched to DOCSIS 3.1. After that I just had problems. I restarted almost every day. I got a new cable modem and that helped a bit. Decided to upgrade my 8 year old AC1750 router as well. This solved my problem. I wanted to use Netgear but their Wi-Fi 6 router had a 1Gbps port while this TP-Link has a 2.5Gbps port. Likewise my cable modem. The only thing I don't like is that the mobile site only has the main elements. If you

Not secure and will not work with iPhone 12

Well I read a review that said this router was Editors Pick. So I bought it thinking it would be very secure and really powerful to connect all my devices to it. There were some typical setup issues after connecting the router, but it turned out that this router was taking longer to connect to my cable. modem and connect your network to it. Security was a big issue from the start. My devices complained that the connection wasn't that secure. I tried to ignore it, but it was a bad sign. Also…

Works great when it works

Was very happy with this purchase as this is my first WiFi 6 router. Everything worked great for the first 2 weeks with good range and speed. But then I noticed my speed tests were falling off. At first I got download speeds of 480+ over direct LAN, but after 2 weeks in cameras it dropped to 80+ no matter how many times I restarted my modem and this router. I have cooling fans on both my modem and this router, so heat isn't the issue. WiFi range is still great. But the speed has increased from…
