Doesn't really work

Running the knife through the sharpener does not feel grippy/friction-free at all meaning little to no material is removed. And in fact, this thing did almost nothing for sharpening knives. I had to pull out my three-sided sharpener and use the coarse-grain side to remove some material to restore dull kitchen knives to their best sharpness.

Handy for your EDC knives

This is a smart tool to keep in your backpack or toolbox for a quick blade repair. Carbide elements can be aggressive on some steels, but this tool will make your EDC knives useful. I've used it on my budget 8Cr13 or D2 EDC knives and it does the job perfectly. In addition, it has a diamond mine for mending shells. I have not used this function. Everything he said. I like it and I think it would be worth having.

Great for serrated blades

Regular V-grooves do the job well, but there are plenty of them. This one does a great job. 5 strokes with the Gerber multi-tool blade and it's sharp like new. However, with this sharpener you get a "thorn" with diamond grit. I've never found anything that can handle serrated blades like my Gerber. (I know they're there, it's just the first thing I noticed) I spent 3 minutes on my dull serrated blade and it was "like new" again. Very easy, very fast. The advantage of this device is that both…

Good for us idiots who can't sharpen a knife

I carried a knife (outside of school) when I was in elementary school in the 1950's. I still have my first scout knife and a box full of other knives over the years. No one ever showed me how to properly sharpen my knives, so when they got dull I either sharpened them on a stone or bought a new one. I have some good sharpeners, but I suck at them too. I have been using a Corona garden tool sharpener to sharpen my knives for a number of years. It worked well enough, but this one is even simpler…

The carbon steel blades are super sharp!

Love this blade sharpener! I was looking for a convex blade sharpener as the best swords and knives have a convex edge. I have high-carbon bluesteel cold knives. That's very expensive. I have an original ODA knife. This sharpener sharpened my old high carbon CS ODA San Mai knives and created a great edge. I also highly recommend using ceramic steel for raised edges. If you use this and ceramic, WOW! You have a very sharp knife! I can't say enough good things about this pencil sharpener. Highly…

Not terrible, but not the best either

Well the packaging and presentation is great, 5+. There are clear instructions and tips and the packaging feels premium. However, the sharpener doesn't feel as premium as other brands I've tested. The sliding carbide locking mechanism is decent, but sometimes I get a very sharp force at an angle when it's engaged, though I might be holding it. The angle feels less sharp than some other brands. But for hunting knives, this is probably what you need. For cutting thin edges, I recommend trying a…

Great little tool for the kitchen and dining room

After I bought the Pivot Pro I decided to test it out to keep in my desk drawer at work or to stash in my backpack. This works very well. Like the Pivot Pro, the convex carbide sharpener works well and can make very good edges fairly quickly. Ceramic decorates them beautifully. These may not be the best blades in the world, but they are fast and comfortable work blades. The diamond tip is a great addition and is great for scoring multi-tool blades. A great tool for €8. The Pivot Pro is more…

Waste of time and money

After reading all the positive reviews, I ordered it knowing I finally found an effective sharpener at a great price. Cheap yes, but useless. Doesn't spice up any EDC I own and I have at least a dozen. After watching videos explaining the sharpening process and practicing for hours to mimic what I saw in the videos, I was unable to sharpen my knives properly. The workmanship is good, but the Pivot Plus can't produce a decent edge on any of my knives, no matter what I'm doing. I'm really amazed…

Excellent merit!

I have to admit that I was very skeptical about this sharpener before trying it. The price combined with the method he used to sharpen made me think about the quality of the edge he would produce. From the moment I opened the packaging I was able to put the sharpener through the work glove. The first task was to sharpen six old hickory paring knives that we use as steak knives. My first reaction was "Wow". I was very impressed with the speed, ease and quality of the edge. Yes, the knives are…
