Saves Money, But Disappointing Performance

When I tried this update for my door handle, I was disappointed by its inconsistent Bluetooth connection and lack of compatibility with certain phones. Although it did save me money, the hassle of constantly fiddling with the DEVICE and digging through troubleshooting guides makes me regret my purchase. As a frequent shopper for Tools and Home Improvement, I expected better from this product..

Pros
  • Saves Money
Cons
  • Inconsistent Bluetooth, Limited Compatibility

UPDATE - with instructions

I already have a Yale Assure SL Smart Lock installed that works with Siri/Apple HomeKit. I also have all my smart devices that can work with Google Home, so I decided to do the same with the door lock. When you open the box, a note will ask you to install the Yale Access app first. There is a sign on the box that contains the module that asks you to install the August app. Confusing? Yes! Especially when you realize that running each app is basically the same, but with two different accounts…

Pros
  • Lock, unlock and check lock status with voice assistants like Alexa, Google Assistant and Siri. Alexa can also notify you when your battery is low. Set up smart reorders via Dash Replenishment to have spare batteries when you need them
Cons
  • So far so good
