This is a decent metering pump with toothed plastic rollers instead of the bare shaft friction drive found in other inexpensive 12v pumps. I measured it dry running at 250mA, not 30mA as advertised. Maybe they meant 300? I'm under the impression that all those cheap metering pumps to save a few bucks don't unload the motors enough so they draw high current and low speed. I've bought 4 of these in the last few months. The first one I sent back was dead on arrival. The second one I had trouble with only turned one way. I removed the end cap that holds the brushes and found that one of the brushes was not seated properly in the plastic housing. I like this little pump for several reasons. This is a self-priming pump and unlike all other types of pumps I've experimented with, it doesn't require a check valve on the outlet to prevent water from backflowing through the pump when it's not running. It pumps faster than other peristaltic pumps I've tried. I used this pump with a 5 gallon tank full of chlorox (chlorine) to automate my pool to chlorinate. I connected this pump to a power supply and an external electric timer to control the run time. It turns on 3 times a day and runs 3 minutes each time to add chlorine to my pool. Has been working for 3 weeks with no problems.
