I needed to enlarge the hole in a heavy steel shackle from 5/8" to 7/8". Using a slow drill speed, moderate pressure, and constant spray of WD40, he shaved off the steel with no problem. The mental slivers were long and intact, a sign of a sharp blade. The enlarged hole was perfectly round. The instrument was packaged in a very durable clear plastic storage case. I can't say anything about durability at the moment. Just take a look.

I've had the occasional use of one of these drills over the years as a contractor, but have only gotten bigger and bigger. I chose this among similar step drills because it is said to be able to cut stainless steel, which is quite difficult. I used it yesterday to drill an extra faucet hole in a new stainless steel sink. It cuts quickly like cutting plastic. It's a good item, not foreign junk just looking decent before use.

These step drills are not worth the money. Fractional size indicators are almost illegible and appear to be painted on (see attached photos) so they are removed very quickly in use. There are no dimensions for the two-stage drills! They're said to be titanium coated, but that seems to be a color that will wear off on first use. They are also not very sharp and have a rounded corner on the edge. Don't buy, they are not worth your money and time.
