good company Average product.

Good product but I had a very hard time getting the right temperature for my needs. May be suitable for certain applications.

Great for sharing! to Terrarium Heat Lamps & Mats

It's getting quite cold in my apartment and my tarantulas are all in separate enclosures. I've tied my smaller t-shirt cases together with heating pads underneath, but I've seen that when it gets particularly cold, it's not enough. This cord is long enough to wrap around the cages and even between them which really helps. It's not hot enough to melt plastic or hurt my little ones. A great solution for me so far!

Alternative use: Fermentation chamber

I didn't buy this item for an animal terrarium, but for brewing beer. I attached it to the inside of the mini fridge I currently use to ferment beer. This product, in combination with the STC-1000 temperature controller, is ideal for maintaining a stable beer fermentation temperature over a long period of time. It heats a 4.4 cu ft mini fridge from 58 degrees Fahrenheit to 68 degrees Fahrenheit in under half an hour and has more than enough power to keep that temperature within +/- 2 degreesโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Easy to install
Cons
  • Can be retrofitted

Normal item - fairly specific use

I first bought this while building items for a large boa display cage I was building. As soon as I read the instructions, I realized that it is not recommended to use it as I intended. I changed plans and installed it but it didn't work at all. I called the company and got a replacement and it really works. Unfortunately, this app just doesn't get as hot as I'd like it to, so I'll probably end up pulling it out to use for something else (little snake stand?). However, this is a good value.

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Vulgarity

Good off-use product

I am using this heating cable in a fridge that I removed to make a fermentation chamber for homebrew. I use an STC-1000 aquarium temperature controller to control the cold side of the temperature and then I use this reptile heating cable to warm things up when the temperature gets too cold at night or in the winter. I control temperatures anywhere between the high 40's and low 50's for lager and the low 60's to low 80's for ales. This is a good price for a heater and it keeps the temperatureโ€ฆ

Works for DIYers too!

I, like several other reviewers, bought this as a heating element in the primary fermentation chamber for home brewing. 23 feet is LONG, but I have a full-size fridge and really didn't want to risk not being able to heat the room. It helps. I trimmed the corrugated iron roof to fit the fridge and wrapped this cord back and forth to make it look like a radiator. So far it's been stable around 70 degrees but my garage is around 40-50 degrees this time of year so I think it will be enough to keepโ€ฆ

better than non-terrarium mats

Used with Digital Rheostat Jumpstart and bolts under the platforms of Critter Nation's 4-tier ferret cage. Works flawlessly. Add a heat bulb and an aquarium water heater (for the pool) and the whole cage stays warm and my bearded dragon uses all the platforms. Over time, the entire cage will be equipped with an insulating cover with transparent zippered windows (like a tent). My goal is to make the cage as energy efficient as possible while being as comfortable and versatile as possible. I amโ€ฆ

Pros

Purchased on recommendation of a reptile cage manufacturer who insisted it was the best and safest heating option on the market. I really wish it was between the 52 and 23 foot cable I had to buy. Now I see it's 39 feet, which would be nice. The faulty cable at 52 and 23 feet is only about 6 feet long. But while 52 radiated 45 feet of heat, 23 radiated only 15 feet. It took me about 20 feet, of course. I had a custom 5 tub adult python rack that I ended up having to pay for an extension as theโ€ฆ
