DO NOT BUY THIS ITEM IF YOU PLAN TO CUT THE CABLE!

This device does not support Wi-Fi streaming. I ran 2 speed tests on this device: 1. WIRED - via ethernet direct to modem, my download speed was 286 mbs (pay for 250 mbs)2. WIRELESS - TWO FEET AWAY from the same modem, my download speed dropped to 80Mbps! Today I returned it to Revain and replaced it with a Motorola MB8600 modem and an Eero mesh network and my WiFi = 255Mbps!

Pros
  • Great design
Cons
  • Zero

Administrator services are only available with a wired network cable.

I bought this to upgrade my home WiFi. Setting is almost impossible, android app to control the hardware is useless. Arris Technical Support admitted the software was defective, had no idea if it would be fixed, and told me not to use it. The only way to get management services is to connect the desktop computer to the modem with a hard cable (LAN). I bought a Netlink 3.1 modem which is easy to set up and works well. I am returning Arris Revain for a refund.

Pros
  • Inspires confidence
Cons
  • You could choose a newer model

ARRIS Surfboard/SBG8300 Docsis 3.1 Cable Modem Plus Wi-Fi Router

I've been using the ARRIS Docsis 3.0 modem/Wi-Fi combo for 5 years and thought it was time to switch to Docs 3.1. I'm happy with my decision and purchase considering the price and the supposed top of the range SBG8300. Because I saw a speed difference (I'm using Xfinity at 275Mbps) that went up to 390Mbps! Thank goodness it was pretty stable after almost a month of use. In addition, you receive an extended 2-year warranty after registering the product on the ARRIS Consumer Support website. I…

Big improvement - Awesome device.

We used Comcast Blast high speed 150Mbps internet. Using our 3 year old SBG6782-AC we got 170Mbps on our wired desktop and around 65Mbps on my phone. Our Comcast was upgraded to 400Mbps, but only 270Mbps on desktop due to modem rating of 343Mbps. So I ordered this new SBG8300, received it the next day and switched. The photo shows my desktop speed and my mobile speed test shows 192 Mbit/s download. Our download speed has more than doubled from 13 Mbps to 29 Mbps. The modem is very easy to set…

the connection breaks down and the firmware is not updated

This combination of modem and WLAN is full of garbage. This is disappointing because I have an old Arris 6121 and it has been 100% reliable. My connection keeps dropping and the problem is I don't know if it's modem related or wireless router related. I've tried several WiFi configurations, but the connection still drops on all my devices at the same time. To make matters worse, the Arris website has a disclaimer that the FW/SW modem cannot be updated as it is managed by the service provider…
