Small and fast. Works with Cox.

I finally decided to buy a modem instead of renting it from Cox. First impressions when it arrived was that it was small and quite slim. I've heard from a few people online that they are having trouble activating their Arris modem with Cox. First, yes, this modem (S33) is compatible with Cox. I confirmed with a Cox representative prior to purchase. The activation process was pretty easy. I connected this modem and used my cell phone's hotspot to contact Cox support via live chat. I gave the Cox

Ease of installation. Good performance.

We had an earlier Arris surfboard that worked great. Recently our ISP (Cox) offered us a speed boost, but it required an upgrade to DOCIS 3.1 to work. Cox sent us a modem but I don't want to pay them a subscription fee so I bought an S33. Installation was easy, requiring only a phone call from Cox to register the modem. They then reset everything remotely and the system has been working great ever since. Cox then upgraded the speed to MegaBlast for free, which is even faster. However, we will…

Works as expected - Modems

Just installed. Elegant design, looks great. Immediately after activation, it went through more than one cycle, indicating a firmware update (amber flashing) and after a reboot. I didn't think this would happen 3-4 times in a row. I prepared to bring it back. But after a few cycles it got stuck and is working fine now. However, I'm not entirely sure about Arris' customer support. I was told this was paid support and when I asked if it even covered a new purchase (under warranty) the rep hung…

Tiny and fast for computers and accessories

I'm used to big and bulky modems of the past, so I was surprised at how small it was when it arrived. Physical installation was easy as it only has one RF connector and two Ethernet ports. The instructions provided were easy to follow in terms of accessing the interface and setting things up there. I couldn't activate it from the Comcast activation page. This will now direct you to use the app which has repeatedly refused to accept the MAC address. I ended up contacting Comcast support and was…

NOT as good as you think. Try the Motorola MB8611 instead.

I don't know how this modem got good reviews. Here's why: - Poor performance. I replaced this modem with a Motorola MB8611. Arris S33 SNR is 1-2 dB WORSE per channel than MB8611. This has a big impact on the other things listed below. Speed. I have 1GB service with my ISP. With the S33, the fastest speed I've ever had was around 550 Mbps. With the MB8611 I'm at 900 where I should be. Hot. Hot as a flame. Often fails.- LOOK AT MY PICTURES. Compare the Power and SNR columns. Much worse at ARRIS…

Here's what it looks like: Networking Products

I recently upgraded my Arris 6141 modem The Arris 6141 gave me inconsistent speed when not connected. It couldn't handle the Ultra 400Mbps plan with Spectrum. On the Arris 6141, I maxed out at 250Mbps/18Mbps on a 400Mbps plan and speeds were very inconsistent. In fact, it has become obsolete over the years of use. Arris S33 is a dream car. It consistently supports the new Spectrum Ultra speeds of 458 Mbps downstream and 18.4 Mbps upstream. I use a Google Nest router with 3 wired ethernet…

Very Fast and Reliable Modem

I would like to start by saying that I am an IT professional and work in the industry. for 24 years. I have a family of 6 and they are all studying remotely in this COVID world and I have been working from home for most of the last 8 years so home internet is my livelihood. I also have a gamer in the family who tests bandwidth and connectivity for me. We moved (to the city) in November 2020, so I've been using the Netgear C7100V for 5 months. Of course, it had its own WiFi router (2-in-1) and…

Runs slightly warmer than Motorola 8600 and 8611. No power cord!

EDIT 3: Upgrade to Xfinity Gigabit level. Always 935 down and 40 up. That's because I don't have 2.5 Gbps. If you configured a 2.5 Gbps network, you should get 1.2 Gbps (20% more than Xfinity). I haven't had any problems with the modem since I received the product. EDIT 2: Has been running for over a week now without a single crash. So in terms of stability, I don't expect a reboot will ever be needed. But of course time will tell. EDIT 1: Upgrade to 5 stars. Another infuriates the lack of an…
