Description of Hakko 599B 02 Wire Type Soldering Cleaner

Metal. Cleans better than conventional sponges. No water required. Will not reduce the tip temperature. Does not cause premature wear of soldering iron tips. No contamination risk compared to conventional tip tinners.

we need weight Good value for money.

1. Very light. When you clean your iron, it tends to tip over or move around. The rubber feet on the bottom are useless. I used putty to hold it in place.2. It feels pretty cheap and easily damaged.3. The lens hood is excellent, it doesn't let solder fly anywhere, even on your hand.4. It looks beautiful and the finish is lasting.5. Finding a replacement wire sponge is easy.6. Cleans very well. In general I'm satisfied, I just wish it was heavier.

Pros
  • Slim design
Cons
  • Not as thick as other picks

Very helpful. If you are a solderer, take this

It has become an indispensable soldering tool. Just stick the tip into the wire mesh and it will come out clean. Much better than sponges. Works very well. Other reviews have complained that it's light and moves around with use. That's true, but I usually just use both hands, which is just as easy. You can also use double sided tape or maybe stick a magnet on the bottom. In normal operation, I did not find this to be a major problem.

Pros
  • An absolute legend

  • Modern

Hakko Soldering Tip Cleaner Review 599B-02

Works great. I suggest doing it yourself, the improvement mentioned would be splitting the hull apart, it's meant to be split. Then add weight to the bottom half to make it heavier. So it doesn't slip off and back together easily. As you can see I added some old lead fishing weights I had inside, about 6 ounces total. Old nuts or washers would probably work as well. I am happy with this tool. It does an excellent job of cleaning and preparing the tip of the soldering iron for re-tinning. I…

Where has the wire tipper been all my life?

Why oh why have I never bought a soldering hook? Why? I have been soldering electronics for over three decades and have always used a damp sponge. Never again! It's so nice to scrape the solder off the tip of the iron without changing the temperature. It actually cleans the tip better, since a damp sponge will always cover the tip during cleaning, and a small amount of flux is sometimes required to get smooth solder joints back. Not with that. I like it! If you solder. If you use a damp sponge.

  • There are downsides

Why haven't I had them for years?

I came across this a while ago while looking for a soldering station with clamps. My father introduced me to soldering when I was about 10 years old and it has been my hobby ever since. I've always used a traditional wet sponge (or damp paper towel in a pinch) but this thing is amazing! And no temporary peak cooling! As others have noted, it's a bit light, but that's easily solved by adding something else below to make it a little harder. cool It would be nice to have this built into the…

Awesome iron tip cleaner

This is my first time using one of these copper tip cleaners. I used to get by with a standard damp sponge. No longer. This tip cleaner is just amazing. Just poke the tip in and out a few times and it looks almost as clean as if it were brand new. I've never seen a wet sponge clean the tip the way this ground brass material cleans the tip. But the secret is that, unlike a sponge, the tip is not rubbed with brass shavings. All you have to do is insert the tip into the chips and remove them and…

You had a job, Hakko!

Great loyalty to the Hakko brand in general. However, this is not the level of quality that Hakko is known and loved for. just not thought through. Basically it is a container. should be heavier and have a thicker protective base. Every time I put my bait in, I lift the entire container unless I'm physically holding it with my hand. Also, if my tip goes too deep and I hit the bottom, I feel like it could melt and hit right on the surface of the container the container is standing on with no…

Bigger than expected but works well

It goes without saying that a clean tip makes the soldering process that much cleaner and helps you do a decent job. This product is an indispensable tool for me. It does its job very well. Solder residues are disposed of in the removable base after each cleaning. Luckily, you can easily remove the canister to clean out the dirt that has built up over time. Because the brass sponge is actually softer than the tip itself, there's no risk of damaging it. The all-metal body is very light, which…

The best way to clean your tips and maintain durability!

Using this method compares better to the wet sponge method (for wiping/cleaning the tip of sticky residue, flux, by-products, etc.) as it doesn't lower the temperature as much as if at all if you use this tool properly (fast in and out. Done!). Rapid temperature changes over time will degrade the metal/composition of the tips and they will fall apart. ALL ABOUT KEEPING HANDPIECES CLEAN! I still keep a *damp* sponge at my station and use it occasionally when I find it necessary, but this product
