Great for driving pins and rebar

I used this with a 5/8" impact wrench to drive rebar into the ground. It worked great when I installed the hammer on my SDS port freight rock drill.

Pros
  • Hand tool
Cons
  • I'm texting back

Rotary hammer is a good addition

A while ago I bought an SDS rotary hammer. This is a great addition to the socket set. Use heavy sockets as a strong impact clutch will break cheap sockets. great addition for the price.

Pros
  • Individual heads
Cons
  • Modern

Used to drive a ground rod with percussion

I used it with a Harbor Freight rock drill and percussion head to drive an 8 foot copper ground rod into dry loam soil in Texas. Took about 30 minutes - they were dry and hard - but better than a sledgehammer!

Pros
  • Power and hand tools
Cons
  • Some problems

Halfway to the SDS Plus Shank Screwdriver

I used this along with a deep socket to make a bar screwdriver as genuine SDS Plus screwdrivers are hard to come by and expensive. It's not entirely clear to me that anyone would want to use a hammer drill for the supposedly intended use of this adapter for turning nuts or bolts. Because it exists, I assume someone knows something I don't. I can understand why bar bits are not normally offered for SDS plus. Hammers with SDS Plus cartridges are not usually powerful enough to be used frequently…

Cons
  • Socket & Socket Set Repair
