Works great with Comcast/Xfinity

Great product. Works as advertised. The user manual is terrible, but the support from Motorola is too bad. For use with Comcast/Xfinity: 1) Plug in your modem, plug in the coax cable and connect an ethernet cable to port 1 on your laptop. 2) Go to the xfinity setup webpage on your laptop and enter your credentials. to activate the modem (the address of the web page is given in the user manual) 3) The modem will reboot and then you should have a wired internet connection with your laptop powered

Recommended by this cable tech

Speaking of cable tech for one of the big companies, this one runs on less heat (less heat, more efficient with power) and is more stable (almost doesn't fall out as easily due to low dBmV or low MER) than the Ubee, Technicolor, and Arris models that my company "packages for free". And yes, AQM also works with the Cisco CMTS that we currently use as our hubs, at least in my city where I work. I bought one in December and it runs on the server without interruption. Of course, line damage or RFโ€ฆ

This cable modem is a beast (in a good way)! A little over 7 years ago I bought a Motorola SB6120 to replace a crappy cable modem that Comcast was charging me monthly. I had no problems with the SB6120 but received an email from Xfinity saying I needed to upgrade my hardware. I suspect they have increased my service speed and the SB6120 is so old that updates from Motorola may not support it. Good. I paid $75 for the SB6120 and it probably saved me over $750 in monthly rent for 7+ years. Firstโ€ฆ

ATTENTION: Buy at your own risk!

I bought two Motorola modems. One at a higher price for me (MB8600) then this one (MB7621) for my sister. Mine failed within 6 months for no apparent reason. No storms, lightning, power surges, just surfing the web one minute and brick the next. I had to go through so much pain to get my replacement back. Blocking my credit card until they got the roast had to contend with the warranty department as I wasn't using it as a basketball or handling it in any way. It's just on the table. reallyโ€ฆ

Gives me the speed I pay for and can go further, plus easy setup.

I have xfinity performance pro which is rated for 150 mb/s incoming and 5 mb/s incoming. I used an Arris SB6141 modem with 8 downlinks and 4 uplinks, great modem, no problem but max speed is 120mbps downlink and 5mbps uplink. I figured what the heck could get the speed I'm paying for, so I bought a Motorola SB7621 with 24 channels down and 8 channels up. Internet speed is now 180Mbps and 6Mbps with 19ms ping. I'm glad I'm getting the speed I'm paying for now. Yes, the download speed hasn'tโ€ฆ

Reliable, affordable alternative to the ArrisSB8200 and Netgear CM1000

The Xfiniity compatible modem is easy to set up by following the quick start guide that came with it. Tip for Comcast/Xfinity subscribers - when going through the setup wizard, selecting the option to send an activation code is a joke - the code is only valid for 15 minutes, but it took me 30 minutes to get the text; just stick with your Xfinity account name for activation and initialization. Xfinity was updated to DOCSIS 3.1 and while my own 6 year old trusty Motorola Surfboard SB6580 workedโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Multi-Gigabit Ethernet Speed - The 2.5GB Ethernet port provides true high-speed connectivity for even the fastest routers and computers, delivering close to 2500 Mbps downstream and up to 800 Mbit/s upstream with the support of your Internet tariff.
Cons
  • Not the best
