💨 Robinair (15310) VacuMaster Single Stage Vacuum Pump - Efficient 3 CFM Power for Superior Performance Review

Removed from the box, filled with the supplied oil and switched on. After 10 seconds the thermal switch tripped. Repeat more than 20 times. It smelled funny when I opened the box and I seriously wonder if anyone else got it back after running it oil free with a DIY mini split rig. Spring. Since it was too late to return and I had to collect the pump locally to complete the installation, I will limit and write off my losses.

The pump has worked great so far. 500 micron vacuum on each of my two mini-split systems in about 15 minutes. Comes with enough oil for 1 filling plus approx. 4 oz. The only complaint is that the packaging was terrible. The manufacturer's box was placed in a shipping carton without any padding. The 1/4 lid was worn through the inner box and the styrofoam in the original box was crushed. Received the pump yesterday. Appeared just as I was finishing installing a new compressor in my wife's car. Only used once but serves its purpose. Pulled the vacuum out of the system in less than 10 minutes. left it on for an hour. I bought this vacuum pump to stabilize wood for handle making. Everything was fine until the oil change. After changing the oil, the pump began to leak at the "drain plug". While trying to troubleshoot this issue, I noticed that the drain plug on my pump is different than what is pictured on Revain or in the Robinair Owner's Manual. When I opened the box I was immediately concerned as the pump was lying on its side. As others have said, some pumps come with oil already filled. So it was with me. The entire pump was covered in oil and dripping from the plastic bag it was wrapped in. I took it to the sink and had to clean it completely with paper towels. Oil was all over the pump, power cord including the female end that connects to the pump. I have to completely dry this pump again before using it. I will update this review

Surprisingly this pump exceeds my expectations considering its performance and price. The unit comes with a 1/4" fitting already installed for older R12 1/4" gauges instead of a two port fitting (1/4 and 1/2) as shown. I have a set of CPS MA1234 gauges with a 1/4" female connector on the yellow hose that connect to the pump fitting without using the supplied straight r134a to 1/2" adapter.
