FAULTY AND DANGEROUS!

.not to mention the expensive lesson. After being connected to mains with no load for about an hour (nothing was plugged in), the 3000W transformer became too hot to touch. I ordered a replacement without realizing how much it would cost to return a defective unit. The cost to return the defective unit from my APO address was $76 and Revain will only refund $3.99 for shipping. So if the new transformer is good, I'll just double the new price out of my own pocket. DO NOT ORDER ONE IF YOU LIVE…

The right buck converter

The transformer is ideal for converting 230 VAC mains voltage to 115 VAC. This is a real transformer with a sinusoidal waveform. In 220-240v countries, stepping down to 110-120v should work just fine. I am sure there is no risk of damaging my gear. I have the 500w model and it's good for devices that draw 1w to 400w total. It does have a 600 ohm resistor between primary and secondary ground, but this is good for preventing ground loops in audio and video equipment.

Works but has cold soldering

Before purchasing, in an attempt to filter out any reviews, my interpretation was that it would do the job, although there was no quality control. Factory - at least when it comes to soldering, the integrity of the coil there is no way to check now. I had cold solder in mine, on the primary side. Although it is ready to use out of the box, I would advise you to test it before using it. I'm still in the US but am using it rustically after my 1500w step-up transformer just to test it out. I don't

3kW budget step-down transformer

This is a regular no frills step down transformer but so far so good. We have a country house in Spain and I needed a pretty solid step-down transformer for some of my American power tools and gadgets that we brought with us. I recently used it for the first time to power a large 110 volt electric slow cooker (1800 watts max) to slow cook a leg of lamb for about 5 hours. I hooked it up outside in our covered BBQ area and it seemed to work fine. It had a noticeable hum (which is an artifact of…
