carrier bought and sent back, saved some money. No instructions or hardware came, I checked other reviews to get an idea of what I need. I ended up buying two 2.5" long 1/2" carriage bolts, two bolt holders to hold the carriage bolts to the strut, two washers and nuts for the carriage bolts, two 5/16-13 long bolts 1" for the hinges and two 3/4" long 5/16" bolts (nuts for them too) to go through the holes I drilled in the door. The pivot weld nuts were unusable as shipped, I had to replace one…

Spare wheel rating good for spare wheel carrier

bracket arrived on time in good condition. I installed it after finding a problem. The bracket has a single lever that attaches to the door by drilling two holes in the edge of the door. The other side consists of two levers with yokes that slide over the door hinges, with a bolt holding them in place. The tongue bottom nut that slides on the bottom hinge has a problem. The bolt has been damaged or displaced. I couldn't put the screw in the nut. I ended up using a grinder to remove the nut and…

Great product, terrible customer service

The stand arrived on time and seems to fit well but no instructions are included. When I contacted the manufacturer via their website for instructions, they replied that they did not have them and that "in most cases our products are installed by professional installers and they do not require instructions". The!? Then why sell it directly to consumers on Revain? Basic information such as the recommended drill bit size for mounting to a door is also helpful. He also gave some 'helpful tips'…

Works as expected in exterior accessory

I have a 1987 Ford Econoline and Surco TF100 that bolts directly to the driver's tailgate where my old tire holder used to be. Two bolts go straight into the door body while two other pieces slide on the door hinges and the bolts are used to clamp the pieces firmly to the hinges. The hinge pins were a bit longer so I used shorter pins (although they all fitted perfectly, contrary to the few reviews I've read). For clip/hinge bolts, make sure they are not screwed into the door. This happened to…

I was hesitant at first, but I was impressed and delighted.

I was hesitant to buy it for my 1986 E-350 Club Wagon Econoline after reading some reviews as most described it as cheaply made. Although I have to say for the price I would disagree. My van once had a spare wheel carrier and some of the holes didn't line up. It would be difficult to find existing holes as I'm sure many companies made them in their day. Installation was pretty easy, although I did add a couple of washers. I was able to use one of the already existing holes on the right mounting

Pros
  • Pretty impressive
Cons
  • I vaguely remember
