Not the best deal

Updated 11/29/17 Feels like I made a terrible mistake. TP-Link customer support is terrible, it felt like they were asking me if it was plugged in and turned on. Permission given 36 hours after call attempt (hangs up each time) and need to use online chat. Now I have to reboot almost every day to have active wifi. No fun if I run two old printers without wifi and can't use them! I hope I don't get anything refurbished when they replace it as it's only 4 months old! I have to break down and call

No product support for: Modems

I purchased this product through Revain and didn't notice the small disclaimer that it was 'just right'. I had a problem during the warranty period and contacted TP-Link. They replied that the person I bought it from is not an authorized seller so they would not honor the warranty. It is recommended that you contact the seller "just right" to remedy the situation. This was the first time I realized I had not purchased this item directly from Revain. I contacted Just Right and they said their 90

As simple as it can be!

I don't understand the bad reviews at all. Many people just assume they know everything and try to install this router without reading the installation instructions. That's the only thing that came to mind after unpacking, connecting cables and going online in less than 15 minutes. All I can say is read the installation instructions that come with the kit. I installed it on the Comcast network. As soon as I turned it on and all the lights came on, the Comcast page appeared and after I selectedโ€ฆ

Reliable, affordable modem and router combo

Earlier this year our ISP upgraded the internet to high speed service, requiring me to replace my old modem and router to take advantage of the new internet speeds. . To save money by not buying separate modem and router modules, I opted for a combo modem-router. After a few days of research, and taking into account the assumptions that separate modem and router units may work better in some cases, I chose this TP-Link modem router based on very good reviews and a good price. Fits Xfinity in modems

Works great for an Xfinity setup and is cheaper than what you'll find on the Comcast website. The price pays off after about 10 months of renting from Xfinity, so if you have a hundred dollars just buy this thing instead of shelling out $10-15 a month to rent the same from Comcast. ++++Addition++++ + Just wanted to add after getting an XBOX One with Battlefield that the security settings on this router are a bit restricted. Multiplayer games usually require opening some ports in your firewallโ€ฆ

Bad if you want to customize the settings

I had a couple of issues getting in my way: 1) There is no obvious way to assign static IP addresses to some devices. This becomes a problem with network printers as they get new addresses assigned every few days and I have to edit their properties on every computer I want to print from. 2) There is no obvious way to update/download the firmware. Most manufacturers already have updates for KRACK. On this model, there is no way to download the firmware from the TP-Link site, and there is noโ€ฆ

Instructions to keep the device connected to the internet

Don't stay connected! I have to turn it off and on again day and night to access the internet. I called TP-Link tech support and was given the following instructions to keep them in touch. TP-LINKArcher CR700Ver. 1.1 First: Reconnect your modem/router to the internet. Second: Use a paper clip to press the reset button on the back of your modem/router for 8 seconds. string, enter: 192.168.1.1 This address leads to the TP Link login page. This is a gateway device at its best!

I was having trouble getting a Wi-Fi signal in my 1,800 square foot home and yard with the Motorola Surfboard Gateway, of which I have owned several models over the years. Motorola outsourced the SB line to another company and when it came time to replace my Gateway unit it stood out for the price and got great reviews and the Revain question specifically mentioned it was good with COX, my ISP, works, so I gave it a try. The AC1750 definitely deserves the 5 stars I give it. I can sit all theโ€ฆ

Easy enough for a layperson to install

I am a woman who does not pretend to be tech savvy. I hope this helps people like me. The instructions were clear and simple. I chose this modem/wireless router combo (Archer CR700, aka "AC1750") because it was on the Comcast Approved List and had excellent reviews on several websites. For those who feel this isn't clear enough, it's a modem (connects to your internet cable from the wall) and your WiFi router (connects your devices to the internet wirelessly), so you don't need a second deviceโ€ฆ
