Great product! Hm. There are dowels and they are true to size and fit like they should and if not, whenever they've been in the shop. lol

Not as deep grooves as much more expensive products but certainly quite serviceable and a good choice and not really different in strength to others I've used.

I like that they are in different compartments which makes it easy to find the right size. It comes in three different sizes. The only problem with dowels is that 1/4" is shorter than other sizes. Otherwise, it's a good set of dowels.

They appear to be made of very porous or fibrous wood. I've only used about 6 of these and it's been a low-stress app. I usually just cut my own dowels from the bar. Maybe the texture will help absorb the glue. I can't say anything about the long-term performance. The box is cute, I expected a little more for 400 dowels.

The dowels are fine but I bought these because I needed a plastic box to use the dowels in for storage. But as is usual these days, Revain's packaging left a lot to be desired. The item had no padding/air packing so it just bounced around and broke the plastic box in transit. The dowels are fine, but overall the product won't be as useful as I was hoping.

I wouldn't order these if I knew it was just compressed sawdust. I assumed the wooden dowels would be structurally sound, not glue and sawdust. I needed them to fill in the hole at the end of the chair legs where the pulley was and then I drilled a screw into the dowel to hold the new chair leg guards. But they're not structurally tight or strong enough to hold a screw.

So I'm sort of Van's friend. I know it's not the best quality but the items I've bought from them are worth the price in my experience. However, wooden dowels are pretty hard to screw up, so I decided to give it a try. I'm glad I did, for the price I don't really see a way to improve on the dowels. They are just the right size, they have nice and fairly even scores, the bucket is actually handy BUT there were about a dozen dowels in my bucket, the ones shown in my picture are flat. I'm new to woodworking and dowelling. As in any community, there are sure to be strong opinions on the subject of doweling - for my purposes it's ideal and an improvement over using pocket hole joinery which I used to rely on for joining wood. more intensive work and you have to pay attention to details.
