WARNING: If this product fails, it will pass through your input voltage and could easily catch your device on fire! 3 out of 3 devices I tested do not work. I supply them with 24V DC and get 24V DC back. No turning of the adjustment screw will change the tension. Given that it goes through the input voltage if it fails, I wouldn't even trust it if I could find a working one out of the bunch.

Pros
  • Ideal for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Low

I wish I had known 20 years ago.

I wish I had stumbled across this 20 years ago. Buy or make adapters for cordless tools. Set the tension to maximum load to get it right and cover it with lots of shrink tubing and mark it in some way like paint or nail polish to mark the tension. You can convert anything that runs on batteries into rechargeable cordless tools. If you're more adventurous, you can make your own voltage-free lithium batteries. Very energy efficient. Now I just need to find some that can handle more amps.

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Very expensive

Fantastic little converters

Bought these to use with my 3D printer and Octopi, they seem to work well for solar energy conversion too. A small buck converter steps down the 18v-22v solar panel and maintains a constant 5v to charge my ring doorbell. It was a hassle to charge the doorbell every few weeks. It's been about 2 months since I installed it and it's still working. I used a spare solar panel for this, I recommend using a much smaller solar panel as it only takes about 1.5 hours of indirect sunlight to fully charge…

I hope your party is better than mine….

I like the ability to set the desired output voltage and the very compact size. Convenient locations for soldering input and output connectors. What I didn't like was the hit or miss of duds. 12V DC supply confirmation, no power LED on three of the first five I wanted to use. I chose two that worked up to 1.5V DC and installed the first one. Turned on but no LED. After cursing and cutting wires, I installed a second one. Luckily it worked, but the question is for how long. As it is functional…

  • Easy to read control panel

Buyers beware of power accessories

First of all. It's all my fault. When connecting this buck converter to the DC jack I mistakenly put POS(+) and NEG(-) to the back and blew it (see image). This buck converter has absolutely no reverse polarity protection. First the voltage regulator on the LM2596S chip blew, then the first capacitor, both exploding spectacularly and shooting chunks all over my room (well, not ALL, but the chunks really did fly, you know). Absolutely worth every penny so why did I give it 4 stars? By the simple

Pros
  • Good product for its price
Cons
  • Some bugs

Great voltage reducers.

Connections must be soldered but well marked with polarity and input and output functions. 9 out of 10 they were usually set to the desired voltage. 1 of these had the set screw slightly loose and could slip out of place. But the one I installed as needed and applied a dab of silicone sealant is holding up great. I used 3 of these at the same time to convert a 24V 3D printer power supply to 12V for use with Noctua 12V Ultra Quiet fans only 9V DC battery. I also had several devices that ran on…

Pros
  • Hands-free operation
Cons
  • Reliability

Was hired as a supplier but quickly found myself helping our engineers with various projects. Required to create a custom R&D/PLC/HMI/BMS workstation. I used a 24V/20A power supply and these buck converters to step down the voltage on multiple rails (DIN rail/terminal blocks) so I have what I need no matter what devices I need to pair/program . (24V for EASYIO FG32+ (BMS) and SPS is the only thing that isn't on one of the tanks - everything else runs on a separate rail powered by one of the…

Low Power Considerations

Summary: - Reduces the voltage from 14-12V to 6.5V and maintains the output voltage within that range at the specified level. - This board is cheaper than the switching voltage regulator component alone. - It really could be a real LM2496S - who knows, we don't care? - Basic reference circuit with adjustable potentiometer - right more, left less. - For fixed applications (like mine) you can blow this pot and insert a fixed value resistor. - For low power functionality, remove the LED and the…

Pros
  • Quality Construction
Cons
  • Requires Socket

So I bought 10 of these with pretty low expectations. My expectations were not met. Short version - the input voltage was too high (totally my fault) and it failed. The problem is that if it failed it would have boosted the output voltage to the input voltage which would probably smoke whatever is connected to its output. And it's BAAAAAD. And it's just unacceptable. So one star for you Mr. Voltage Regulator (not really) I ran them with a remote solar system but solar doesn't like snow…

Pros
  • Great overall performance
Cons
  • Doubtful
