Attention do-it-yourselfers! This product is hazardous to any circuit downstream of this device that cannot handle the full 90 volts that these devices generate. When the input current is less than 800mA at startup, the device will output about 90V regardless of the voltage setting. It also starts at 90V on initial power up and then throttles back to the set voltage even if the current is over 800mA. Tests at 24V at 0.5-5A have shown that this device will burn out any electronic circuit that cannot handle this initial voltage. I bought two of these and tested them with the same results. These are the only boost converters that behaved this way during testing, making it terrible for homebuilt power supplies. I will return them. Attached are two photos of this behavior. One shows that it delivers a full 90V when the input voltage is less than 800mA at 24V. The other shows that it produces an instantaneous starting spike when the input is 800mA or more at 24V. Both units have been calibrated for 36V.
