So I bought it a while ago as a second monitor. I'm into photography and videography, but I only need to pass sRGB for web, so I liked 100% sRGB (I was able to get 99.8% sRGB color space with DisplayCal). However, surprisingly I found that after calibrating and verifying, I get almost 89% of AdobeRGB color gamut and 91% of DCI-P3 color space. These are very good values that even the LG 27UN850-W monitor, which is almost twice as expensive, cannot even match. It is a good choice as a monitor for office work, taking photos and watching movies. What I like best about this monitor is the unobtrusive anti-glare coating, no white blurring on black text, and very reliable color accuracy. I don't play it because I'm a responsible adult with a variety of other time-wasting hobbies, but I'm sure the meager refresh rate won't satisfy hardcore gamers. But what I need it for, for some (non-critical) correct colors, it meets and exceeds my expectations. The only downside here is some inconsistency in brightness uniformity. But for my purposes, it's totally forgivable and I hardly notice it. However, the brightness uniformity issue that some here have written about leads to my next note on build quality. There are some problems here. I suspect the consistency issue is an inconsistent quality control issue as mine is tolerable and not as bad as some of the other examples shown here. Quality control was no doubt an issue as well, with vertical black bars appearing on my monitor a year later. This is caused by the destruction of the adhesive and the loss of contact of the electrical inputs that connect to the display. I called AOC about this, they asked me to provide some photos and then I sent the monitor back. Luckily, it comes with a pretty long three-year warranty. For the price I paid for it I didn't want to complain that I lost it for 3 weeks, had to pay shipping and provide my own box which wasn't returned to me. I was just happy to receive a brand new device in a reasonable amount of time. As I looked at the monitor and compared it to other displays like my partner's Retina MacBook Pro or the aforementioned piece of LG junk, I realized what a great buy this is. AOC sacrifices a bit on build quality to offer high-end performance in terms of what you're buying a monitor for anyway: viewing. And with the rapid advances in display technology, who really cares if this thing fails in three years? Tl; Dr literally buys this thing for something other than gaming.
