I've only had a chance to use a cheese grater once. I bought this primarily for grating cheese and my first experience of grating parmesan and romano gave me what I was expecting, shredded cheese, not what I was hoping for, shredded cheese. As I said, that wasn't a surprise so I just left out the shredded cheese a second time and it came a lot closer to what I was hoping for, a thinner, not quite powdery cheese. Even with the cheese double straining, it was much quicker than the hand grater I have and much quicker to clean than pulling out the food processor. I'm a little worried that the handle will move a little when it's locked. Otherwise I am satisfied with the product.
