Review on πŸ”Œ NET HyperDrive USB C Hub 6-in-2 for MacBook Pro Air, Multi-Port USB-C Dongle with Gigabit Ethernet, 40Gbps 100W Power Delivery, 5Gbps 60W Data Transfer, 4K30Hz HDMI by Pete Martin

But almost liked it.

I've been using the hub for 4 months. At first I liked him very much. He provided me with everything I really needed (and I still had 2 tbolt ports on the other side in case I needed anything else). He transferred full power to the machine for quick charging. Yes I gave up the card port for ethernet but that's what I needed more - it would be nice if they could give both. The HDMI port worked great when I needed it on the go to connect to a presentation projector. BUT. The first thing I didn't like was that the device doesn't turn off when you put your computer to sleep. So it drains the battery significantly over and over again. The Power LED stays on for you to see. So if you're traveling or sleeping with your computer and need to conserve battery power, take it off! The ethernet port - the main reason I bought this device - turned out to be lousy. At first I thought the "quick release" aspect that frees the ethernet connector was a good feature to protect it. But it got annoying. The plug came off too easily. After 3 months it got to the point where it became too sensitive and the slightest movement of the machine would disconnect the ethernet plug. I tried to fix it with tape but to no avail. Now 4 months later the port is broken and just doesn't work anymore. I don't know if the pins mismatched anymore or what, but it just doesn't work (all other ports are fine). Back to WiFi, which I don't want to use with my laptop on my lap when sitting with it for long periods of time, sometimes on the couch. (Have you ever used a meter to see how much EMG radiation is emitted on your jewelry? πŸ˜‰. It's not a pretty picture!). only 4 months. I will report it. What worries me, however, is that the Ethernet port is simply not configured for everyday use with a laptop that is often moved from desk to lap and back again. If it were under steady state conditions it would probably be good. But it's a laptop! No desk! The whole point of this connected device is to be just as portable as a stationary desktop hub. Hope they get through this. and I.
