Good quality hardware

We purchased this satin nickel door knocker to replace an old tarnished brass knocker. They are almost identical! It's durable and appears to be of great quality. My only complaint is that when we close the door, we hear the faint tap of a metal knocker on the door.

Pros
  • High marks for grip and durability from testers
Cons
  • Zero

Attention, fastening material may not fit!

Good quality and design door knocker. I remodeled my front door and replaced the brass hardware with satin nickel. Together with the fresh color, this door knocker has become an eye-catcher! My only complaint is with this satin nickel door knocker which comes with BRASS washers and acorn nuts! How does this happen! It probably should only be rated 3 stars but despite the downside I gave it a bonus star for looks.

Hardware is unnecessary and doesn't match the finish of the product

The hardware supplied is junk. There are small pieces of threaded rods, connectors, brass nuts and washers. Brass parts do not match brushed nickel. There weren't any instructions or a template in the kit, but it's pretty easy to figure out how to install. I used mounting screws and washers instead of the included hardware. The main body of the door knocker looks and functions decently.

Pros
  • Great construction
Cons
  • Can't remember

Great replacement for my old hammer

The casting was very different from my old hammer. It's stronger so I had to drill slightly larger holes to install it. The specs say the center-to-center spacing is 3 15/16 inches. I measured it at 4 inches. I also had to file a hole to make it fit. My original holes were a little out of order. Overall, the installation of this handsome hammer was worth little effort. And one more thing: the length is 6 inches.

Pros
  • Very good price
Cons
  • Slightly torn

Good product but misleading description.

Product is good but the description says the mounting holes are 4 1/4" apart which is why I bought it. I replaced an existing door knocker with 4 1/4" center mounting holes. When it arrived I immediately noticed that the holes were 4 5/8" on center. I was originally going to return the item but ended up enlarging the door openings and bought some larger brass washers from the local hardware store to close them.

Pros
  • Nicely packaged
Cons
  • Upgrades

Fur, price is ok, instructions completely wrong

1) Instructions say to drill into the door from the inside. DO NOT DO THAT! Unless you're a handyman who can drill perfectly orthogonal holes, any angle you deviate from will increase due to the thickness of the door - and you'll have to drill even more holes in the door. Measure the distance between the jambs and drill INSIDE from the outside of the door. I used a 1/4" bit etc and then wiggled it around a bit to give me a little more tolerance to line up the screws with very demanding posts…
