Description of ARES 70016 Damaged Extractor Removes

ABOUT THE TOOL: This damaged bolt and stud extractor tool is 3/8-inch drive and can be used with manual or pneumatic impact wrenches and ratchets. The hexagonal flat can also be used with flat wrenches, adjustable wrenches, sockets, and locking pliers. Manufactured with high-grade Heat-Treated Alloy Steel for maximum durability, this tool also features a chrome finish for additional rust protection. MULTIPLE USES: This bolt extractor will save hours of frustration on broken exhaust manifolds, oil filler plugs, rounded starter bolts, low grade bolts left in saltwater, painted-over bolts, rusted tight bolts and more. TRADITIONAL BOLT EXTRACTORS: Traditional bolt extractors force the user to guess which size the damaged stud is. They have a tendency to strip the screw even more and shave metal off without budging the screw, leaving you worse off than when you started. The design of this bolt extractor allows you to clamp down on the damaged stud, eliminating the guess work. RELIABLE | EFFECTIVE | EFFICIENT: Users trust ARES to be quality tools. You are backed by our Performance Assurance Limited Lifetime Warranty. If you have any issues with your ARES Damaged Bolt and Stud Extractor Tool, simply contact customer service for troubleshooting help, parts, replacement, or refund. Need a manual? Perfect for broken exhaust manifold studs

I am completely satisfied with this puller. It's heavy, meaty, and of good quality. I was nervous seeing the bad reviews but I'm glad I decided to buy it. I had two stubborn exhaust manifold bolts that I couldn't get loose from my F150's cylinder head. If the thing didn't work, the next step would be to remove the head and drill them out. I've tried vise, several different pairs, but they didn't work. This extractor fixed and made the job easier. I'm really impressed with how well it snapped in

Pros
  • Durable finish
Cons
  • I have no particular complaints about it, everything is fine

Works amazingly well!

I was planning to replace the exhaust manifold studs on my 2001 F-150 5.4L and I already had 2 studs that broke flush with the manifold and I thought more were going to break than I actually did got there before work so i ordered this tool. Of the 6 bolts that weren't broken, I unscrewed 5 without breaking them. Unfortunately, the sixth broke in the head, where this tool did not go. However, the other two broken studs were quickly and easily removed. I've also used it to remove a few other…

The boy does that grip thing!

Instead of digging through my bucket of nuts to use with the double nut method of pulling out the studs, I decided to give it a try. In use, it functions like a drill chuck in a drill. You twist the collar and the insides open. Then start turning counterclockwise. Then the teeth close and begin to cling to the hairpin on which a few chosen words have been thrown. Now, as it comes loose, the tool bites harder and harder. This is where the magic happens. If that doesn't work, you have no choice…

Wow! Best money I've ever spent!

Amazing! I'm one of those guys people come to for tools. I thought I had all the tools I would ever need. until I tried replacing the water pump on my old outboard. Every bolt was frozen in place, nothing I knew or tried moved those bolts even a little bit! I gave up and cut off the screw heads to drop the bottom block. I think I have a better chance if I have some warmth, grip and persuasion. NO! still wouldn't move. I gave up for the night and got the idea of using a bolt puller, the idea…

Great but not for 6mm

I call it a "beast" when I need to extract something. It wasn't beaten in my use. This is a powerful tool that works very well. If he can grab the bobby pin you're removing, he should pull it out. This works just like a drill chuck, but there is one of its limitations. On smaller sizes like 1/4 inch, the jaws are outside of the body, so the bolts can break near the body. Larger sizes have the jaws inside the body, requiring more bolts. to capture it. Sponges are about 10mm flush with the body…

Works GREAT but take your time with this tool!

As I mentioned before, take your time to use this tool, it will get the job done just fine. I used it to remove 5 broken studs from a Ford Triton dual valve exhaust manifold. FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS and those broken rivets will come out easily, hurry up and you could be in big trouble. I don't recommend using a punch with this tool, although the manufacturer says you can. I'm not for the reason that you can't feel the movement of a broken bobby pin, which is very important! How I performed my…

My bike saved! on Wrenches

(Posted on VTXOA) I've studied hundreds of instructions on how to remove broken bolts. And it seemed hopeless. That's what happened. I've been tracking delay pop in my new V&H exhaust for a while. I replaced the gaskets, removed the dual valve, fiddled with the A/F. Nothing worked. So while waiting for the air shutoff valve repair membrane to arrive (as suggested in another post) I decided while the bike was HOT. that it might be nice to tighten my already washed nuts on the exhaust pipe a bit.

Surprisingly hard!

This thing does its job surprisingly well. I didn't have high expectations for those cheap internet brands like Ares, Tekton etc, but this thing is solid and handles a massive amount of torque. I'm a diesel technician and first used this puller to remove 12mm studs on a salt truck. These salt trucks are so rusted and worn the bolts are practically welded on. I used this tool in combination with a long 1/2 inch ratchet with a 2 foot bolt remover. It was a BEAR to pull them out, but this tool…
