For the price it's not too bad.

Aside from the fact that the included tripod wobbles a bit, the lens caps never close and it's actually too big to easily fit in the included carry case ( I put a hard time in it and was able to almost couldn't get it out), and judging by the clarity, zoom and field of view, it deserves the three stars I give it. If any of these things are as important to you as they are to me, then of course you'll want to deduct a few stars for them, making this a pretty terrible choice. For the price…

works but. the best spotting scopes

I think it's a decent deal albeit cheap. really very cheap, so cheap that the second time around the eyepiece fell apart. I adjusted the zoom and the eyepiece came off so I unscrewed the collar to see where it broke, to my surprise it didn't break entirely but I figured it wasn't glued well. I don't understand if a screw or permanent fix would make it "tougher" but no, they used glue, poor design and quality control. Anyway a bit of epoxy fixed it but if you buy it be careful it's really…

BARSKA 15-40x50 Colorado Spotting Scope

This is a good scope for the price but is difficult to focus on quickly and wobbles fairly well at around 30x magnification. I bought this scope because I have jerks who like to park near my house. Some of them are contractors. The other neighbors will probably have their last beer on the way before heading home to their families. But some of them check the neighborhood. I didn't think it would be the best option for night time, but during the day when you need to grab it and then focus on a…

Get what you pay for.

I decided to get an affordable spotting scope because I didn't want to spend a few hundred bucks on something I only use occasionally. smooth adjustments. But that's all. The pens are cheap and feel like they will break every time you touch them. Lens caps rarely stay on and fall off half the time in transit. The tripod is a joke. But all this is easily forgiven. The reason I can't even try to use this thing is because the picture quality is terrible. I've never been able to get anywhere near a

Possibly birding, and a spotter that distance just can't do that.

It will do the job, but hardly. Discard the plastic tripod first. You can find quality tripods for less than $20. Optics is another area that suffers badly. Even at only 50 yards, finding the first or second hole in a .556 is extremely difficult. Once you finish 2 or 3 holes you can see them a little better. If I were to buy another spotting scope I would save a little more money and buy one with better optics. It's very difficult to see a hole on a target with a black silhouette. Once there…

Light and functional

I pulled it out of the box while sitting in my truck and tried to enlarge the mall sign on the street. It focused perfectly at minimum magnification, but at about 25 to maximum it didn't focus on anything. I went home disappointed. I even requested a reauthorization through Revain. Then I bought a real Vanguard spotting scope for $300. I saw it in the store and it works great. I then got into my truck and a few days later looked through the windshield at a new scope with the same horribly…

Would be a nice toy if not

I tried using this scope at 200 meters. I used DayGo reaction targets instead of paper targets. My tucks are usually within 1 MOA. With this scope I couldn't even focus on the targets. I have a Crossfire II 4-16x - 50mm. I was able to take a closer look with my optics at 16x and with this optics at 40x. The site at 16x also seemed closer. Looking through the lens requires your eye to be at eye relief, and it was never really clear below 100 yards (then it was hardly what I would call clear or…
