Quality product for many generations

Robust, proven knives at a good price with high quality. They have a good working edge, my wife loves them. I used 120 grit and then 180 grit sandpaper to smooth out the corners on the handles and then applied several coats of Johnson Wax Paste with a blow dryer for appearance and protection. The handles now look rich, deep, darker and, dare I say, expensive.

Pros
  • All right!
Cons
  • Without insurance

Quality knives, the best in cutlery and knife accessories

Putting together a set of knives with a wooden handle. Old Hickory doesn't sell santoku knives and I've had good experiences with Case knives made in the USA. This knife is of excellent quality but for the price I was expecting a better finished handle. At the moment the handle is impregnated with 3 layers of linseed oil. I don't mind some of the less expensive knives, but two Case knives are $30-$40 and I expect them to have a fully finished/sealed handle.

Unfinished handle in knife block sets

Assembling a knife set with a wooden handle. Old Hickory doesn't sell a bread knife, and I've had good experiences with Case knives made in the USA. This knife is of excellent quality but for the price I was expecting a better finished handle. At the moment the handle is impregnated with 3 layers of linseed oil. I don't mind some of the less expensive knives, but two Case knives are $30-$40 and I expect them to have a fully finished/sealed handle.

Pros
  • New to my collection
Cons
  • Doubtful purchase for the elderly

Took some work but was worth it

The handle was rough and needed sanding which wasn't a big deal and it wasn't that sharp. On the plus side, it's made in America by Case Knife and is well worth the price. Just be ready to give it some love before you start using it. Also a good tip to make the pencil last longer is to apply a few coats of boiled linseed oil and as an extra measure I rubbed and melted the beeswax into the pencil with a hair dryer. The beeswax gives it a better hand feel and makes it more waterproof.

Disappointing edge for kitchen dining room

Bought a great kitchen knife based on Case knives good reputation. The blade is very thin (plus or minus depending on usage). The plastic handle fits perfectly in the hand. The grind looks like it was taken at 4:30am on a Friday. at the top uneven and unsuccessful. Very good (120 grit) sanding attempt. No finely polished edge. Of course, it will fade after the first use. I expected more from Case. I will repair and sharpen the edge, then polish to a mirror finish. but it should come from the…

Super functional but not pretty

Firstly, this is not a fancy kitchen knife meant to look pretty. The handle was a bit rough and the blade was well sharpened but not polished. I've sanded the handle a bit and applied some Danish Oil and it looks and feels a lot better. I really like an industrial/utility blade and have found factory sharpened blades to be great for what I like. There is no protrusion behind the edge, making sharpening very easy. I believe Case's "Tru-Sharp" steel falls somewhere between 420HC (which Buck uses…

Superior Steel Made in the USA

The Case brand has always been synonymous with quality since I was a kid over 60 years ago. When we needed new kitchen knives, I went shopping and compared steels and prices. The Case brand has proven to be the best steel for the money, although they aren't the cheapest, you get what you pay for. Chance will tell you that the steel in this knife is NOT stainless and should not be washed in the dishwasher or wet cleaned. You are not joking. Pros: Great steel at a good price. Steel stays sharp…

PERFECT PERFECT FOR CREATION

I used to have two of these knives but didn't know what they were called. The first appeared in a Ginsu knife set I bought over 25 years ago and quickly became my favorite knife in the set. The blade broke after many years and Ginsu true to their word of "lifetime guarantee" sent me a replacement, albeit more fragile than the one I had and that also broke in a much shorter time. Rather than trying to find another flimsy replacement I checked out Revain and found this knife and I really like it.

  • Cutlery and knife accessories
Cons
  • Useless features
