Improved Engine Performance with Timing Chain Tensioner

The Cloyes Timing Chain Tensioner transformed my engine's timing system. Based on my observations, it reduced engine noise and improved overall performance. It was easy to install and fit perfectly with my engine. The only downside is the price may be a bit steep, but the benefits are well worth it. Highly recommend for anyone looking to upgrade their engine's timing system.

Pros
  • Easy to install and adjust
Cons
  • Requires frequent maintenance to prevent failure

Perfect for 4.0 SOHC Ranger

This is a tensioner for SOHC engines that mounts over the thermostat housing. This is the same brand that Ford uses, so it's basically an OEM part.

Pros
  • Item Type: Auto Parts
Cons
  • Very Expensive

They did what they had to do.

My 2005 Mercury Mountaineer 4.0L SOHC V6 170,000 miles started having a horrible timing chain "rumble" for a few seconds on cold start. After doing a little research and watching a few videos, I decided to get them and give them a try. I primed, mounted and screwed them as described in the video. On the first run I figured I'd have to call Scotty into the engine room and throw out the core :). After a few seconds the noise stopped and hasn't happened since. Subsequent cold starts are absolutely

Pros
  • Made in Taiwan
Cons
  • Quality
