Bearing squeaks out of the box

Finally redid the jeep, got up only alternator bearings squeaked at idle. 200 rpm at idle is fine, but otherwise embarrassing. Past the rear window, quite disappointed.

Please note the footnote! This will NOT fit the stock alternator bracket in the XJ (cannot vouch for other cars), you MUST have a reinforced bracket. Too bad I missed the footnote when I bought it, now I'm sticking with it. Otherwise a good device

Excellent quality, reasonable price

Great quality as always from DB Elektro. It's a nice upgrade from the 90-amp alternator that's standard on most Jeep Cherokees. I did my research before ordering and knew it wouldn't be a straight bolt replacement, but it was worth the little grinding required for installation.

The part arrived quickly!

The spare part was sent quickly. Remember you MUST change the original alternator brackets. My 1998 Jeep Cherokee Limited came with a factory 117 amp alternator and I still had to modify the brackets to hold the 120 amp replacement. Simply use a marker to determine how much you need to remove the staples, and then use a grinder (benchtop or handheld) to remove what you need. The hole patterns match and the wiring is fine, but the alternator is larger so again the brackets WILL be changed. If…

The 97 4.0 Grand Cheroker's holes don't line up even if the bracket is ground.

Received this as a 90a alternator upgrade for my 1997 Grand Cherokee, I understand the bracket will need to be ground to fit, but the holes still match. Waited a few months and decided to do the job. Even if I sewed the alternator bracket under the A/C compressor, the top holes on the alternator wouldn't line up exactly. Maybe they sent me the wrong one - it's hard to tell as there are no stamps on the unit to identify the model number, just a sticker that says "044764 011620" and since the…
