Good cheap option for desoldering pumps

Bought for a keyboard I used to desolder switches. I removed all the switches very quickly considering this was my first time desoldering (or soldering) anything. It was very cheap and seemed really reliable. It was difficult to get used to the pistons, but I quickly got into the rhythm.

Works well on circuit boards with a little adjustment

This little device from others has been around for decades, mainly because it works. While they work best with old electronics straight out of the box, things that use terminal lugs and terminal blocks and tube sockets, they also work well with circuit boards. The trick is to cut the tip at an angle so you don't have to hold it upright to get a seal around the pen.

I like to use this in place of a braid.

1. Take one hand and melt the solder with the other.2. Cock the pump mechanism by pressing down on the table with a hand without a soldering iron3. Put this on top of the melted solder while the iron is still there (tip doesn't even melt at 650F) and vacuum, it takes me three times 80% of the time to clean the through hole. This method makes desoldering quick. The construction of this pump is solid and I have personally used it a few times.

Pros
  • GOLS Certified
Cons
  • Communication with Seller

Buy a high temp silicone end cap and attach it to the nozzle. It is similar to the Engineer SS-02 solder pump but much cheaper. This is the end cap I bought and it works great. It's a bit thick, but I trim off the excess around the edge to give it a taper. But that shouldn't be a problem if you leave it alone, it's silicone and won't damage surrounding parts. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B018914Z1G

Gets the job done at an unbeatable price

Despite all the work I've put in over the last 3 months this demolition pump continues to do a good job. The tip has good heat resistance, so you can put it directly on the joint. It's quite long and its click mechanism is quite thin, which sometimes makes it difficult to tell if it's locked or not. Its length also means it's perfect for working with rough circuitry rather than really thin material, although some care managed to separate some of the TSSOP pins. At less than $6, it's hard to…

Best Hit for the Dollar!

Some people who leave reviews here say it took a lot longer than they thought, but I guess they're used to short weak suction cups like mine that broke into pieces. I couldn't find measurements in the Revain description so I measured here. The total length is just over 33 cm (13 inches). The center of the release button is approximately 18.5 cm (7 3/8 inches) from the tip opening. I have no problem using it as it is the same size as another large one I had before the tip wore out and the cost…

Works like cocking an air pistol.

Piston does not bind like many others. You cock the plunger and then push the button. You get a sound similar to the sound you get from a daisy with a tail like a BB gun and a nice solid "Punt!" sound. Easy to understand. Simply unscrew the top and all components remain on the piston. Discard the cylinder and reassemble. My problem is that I'm working with 22AWG wire and LED pads, so I can't really achieve that. The nozzle is too big or there isn't enough solder to suck out the small pads and I

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Slightly dented

It's been years and years since I soldered when a friend gave me her ten year old Audio system plus brought Bose. The remote didn't communicate with the transceiver, the light didn't turn green or red, and it didn't work at all. After browsing YTube the LED in the box seems to have burned out. The entire circuit board was smaller than a matchbox in a nightclub, and my hands aren't as hard as they used to be. To be honest, I ordered a diode and a desoldering vacuum pump because I couldn't find…
