🔎 Enhanced Search-Optimized Relay Assembly Mini by Directed Electronics 8616 Review

Nice and small (about 1/8 the size of a 30/40A relay) and with enough capacity for literally dozens of LED lights. Not waterproof, but comes with cables long enough to be installed in a sheltered location. I use them for extra lights on trailers and bikes, they're easy to get out of the way and extremely reliable.

Good product. Used it on my Yamaha V-Star to install 2-50W high beam headlights. It worked wonderfully! The total current for lamps with a power of 2-50 W is only 8.5 amperes, which corresponds to the range of this product. Driven more than 1000 km at the moment without any complaints. Love the small size, pre assembled and heat shrink protected! The smallest relay I could hide on a motorcycle! And love it!

Viper Aux outputs 5V that can be used to open the trunk. This device is based on a manual that specifically mentions barrel release (I see the description has been removed). I even got an answer from the Q&A that it would work with a meager 5V 200mA output, but that's not too bad, I had to wait 3 weeks for shipping to find out. I get a low switching current relay available from Revain, although I wanted everything to be OEM. I don't understand why Directed can't supply a relay for their system.

Bought this little relay to connect the trunk release button to the auxiliary output on my Viper security system. Worked great on this app! Go back 15 years and I was trying to figure out automotive relays. I didn't understand them or this particular product. But four years later I installed a Viper alarm on a 1995 Subaru Legacy and this product caught my attention when I was figuring out how to install a dome light controller (requires a relay). I switched to a DEI 8616, bought one, and then for some reason (I honestly don't remember) used a standard "big" (physically) Bosch relay instead. And it was lying there in the trash can…
