The perfect replacement! Easy to install! cheaper.

Bought for my 2006 Altima as the original which ran for almost 14 years broke. Perfect fit, only need one screw to DIY. Inexpensive and of high quality for only 5 euros. I hope it stays out long enough like the original.

Pros
  • Good thing
Cons
  • Older model

These things break if you look at them the wrong way

Bad design from Nissan. These things become brittle from the heat of the engine and break very easily. Fortunately, replacement parts are plentiful and easy to install. Unfortunately, the replacement suffers from the same issue as the original, so be prepared to order another replacement.

Pros
  • Easy install
Cons
  • Not bad

Great value good enough for 4 years of use

Matches my 2003 Altima prop bar perfectly. The OEM version from Nissan is three times more expensive and only slightly better in terms of reliability and durability. The original bracket lasted about 8 years. I have bought this unit twice in the next 6 years so what an added value!

Easy installation - body

Very happy with the hood strut latch. I unscrewed and pulled out the broken one that came with the car, put this in place and screwed it in, and voila, it holds the prop perfectly in place. It feels pretty solid. I'm glad it's fixed and it was easy enough that I was able to do it myself.

This part is dangerous!

I liked the price. But I didn't like the fact that it didn't stay firmly in place. Well, that tie rod fell off one day, along with the rod that was attached to my generator. and damaged my alternator, leaving my brake light and battery light on. So I had to spend $240 to buy a new alternator. In the name of what the 4 rod holder did. This is a very bad product.

Pros
  • Decent performance

Does the job: body and fairing

Works well but plastic is tougher than OEM. It is easy to insert the hood brace into this bracket, but it can be difficult to remove. It may not be possible for people with weak hands to remove the hood while holding it with the other hand. All in all, it doesn't really matter as long as you don't spend a lot of time under the hood. I was more concerned with the hood bar dangling into the engine bay while driving.

Pros
  • Certified
Cons
  • Good but not great

Never needed in a perfect world

This was installed on my 2004 Altima and is the second replacement I have replaced. Others who open my hood don't seem to understand that you have to use your thumb on the front of the latch and then pull the brace forward to release it. Instead, these fools choose to pull the prop straight down and break the cradle in which it rests. To explain the incompetence of other idiots on this planet, some of whom have an alphabetical list of certifications like ASE, there is a market for such items…

I shaved it off to match my 2004 Lexus IS300. Great fit and saved $45!

. So I have a 2004 Lexus IS300 and replacing this little plastic part from Lexus costs anywhere from $25 to $60 depending on whether you're buying new or used. So I bought this item instead, much cheaper. There are two pins on this piece that connect to the hood. One side didn't fit so I used an angle grinder to shape it from a square pin to fit the IS300's round hole. (see image). Took about 5 minutes and saved $20-40. If you don't have an angle grinder, you'll have to sharpen it by hand. I…
