Dorman 578 305 Fuel Tank Strap Review

Replaced a factory strap that was rusty and broke off. I had a service technician install them when they were doing another repair. They were just as good as the originals.

Fits perfectly, easy, took about an hour to install by myself. Soak old screws with PB Blaster to remove old rusty screws. Fits my 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 Quad Can 6 1/2 ft bed. Supplied pre-painted black to prevent rusting.

This was a set of two straps. One strap fitted perfectly and the other was too small. Only one of my straps broke but I was in the process of replacing two. Luckily for me, the right one was defective. If the remaining band breaks I won't buy from here because I'm not sure if it will fit or not.

Fits in the back, doesn't fit in the front Too short. I was able to replace the broken back but I couldn't install the front. The screw hole was about 6 inches smaller than the mounting screw. The quality seems good but maybe they sent me the wrong model.

This is not the right kit for ram 2500 with 35 gallon tank. The back fits, but the front will be 3-4 inches shorter. I was able to cut the old belt at the attachment point that wasn't rusty and welded it to the new belt. However, unless both belts snapped, the truck needed repairs today. I would send these back. Shipping was quick and the product appears to be well made apart from the fitment issues.

Once I made it, it fit perfectly. I looked at the front before removing it and found that the strap is fitted much lower than the back and can actually fit.
