Ideal for powering your phone in the car!

This little device is a GEM. I hardwired it to my overhead console so I could power the iPhone stand from the top without running wires to lighter outlets. And it works fantastically, with enough power to even charge an iPad. If you are looking for a device to connect a USB powered device to your car, this is it! FYI: I just noticed that the ratings for both devices are being merged. I bought the gold color block 3A.

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Hard to say

Add charge where there was none before.

I removed the center console from my truck and connected it to the power supply with the key. I then connected the USB cable to charge my phone and routed the cable to the dash mounted phone holder. This device was attached with double sided tape, not visible, and the console was reassembled. This provided a much cleaner setup for charging the phone than a cigarette charger cable running through the console for all to see. Note. I wrapped the entire device in heat shrink tubing for protection…

  • Cool product

Bought to start the DVR. Works great!

Bought for a DVR. Works great! I connected it to a 12v switch (with key) and it will turn the dashcam on and off with my key. works great so far. I will update the information if this causes any problems or issues in the future. Simple installation step: - Find 12V with a wrench and pull a small wire through to the ceiling (behind the ceiling panel) - Find ground and also reach the ceiling - Solder 12V and ground. for the appropriate solder points on the USB power supply - cover the entire…

Good design, poor quality control

The converter uses good quality switching regulator chip, which has good efficiency. The chip used is MP2307, a synchronized volume converter. This IC has both a high and low side switch which ensures minimal losses at low load, but at high load the low side switch is not big enough to handle the current so there is still an external diode to carry the current, which limits the converter's efficiency to around 80%90%. There is a diode on the input to prevent reverse polarity, but this…

The perfect power supply for my DVR!

It helped me. I bought this to add a power supply for my new dash cam. All I had to do was solder the wires to the pins on the end of the board, then I shrink wrapped the whole thing and connected it to my car's fuse box in a circuit that was connected to an auxiliary power supply (i.e. it only receives 12V power). when I turn on the ignition of the car). Works great, and after running a long USB cable from the fuse box under the carpet, up behind the passenger side quarter panel, up through…
