Fits well in a peg bag

Fast delivery, box in good condition. I had to use a press to press the lugs in, but other than that it fits well and does the job. This is a well built solid construction. The wheel sticks out a little more than I would like, but we understand that it was designed to accommodate different wheel and tire combo sizes.

Too long for pole pockets

Too long for stake pockets on my PJ trailer. It was sticking out of the bottom of the bag for the pressure plate to hold, but it dangled like crazy. I was able to trim it down and get it working properly, but I guess most people don't have the tools to do this. It should really work out of the box.

good, but it could be better.

Stud assembly is always fun. Once fully installed, you can see in the photos that the locking grooves that hold the bolt protrude slightly above the steel. I have a 15" rim and after the lug nuts are installed to hold the wheel, the top of the nut looks like it goes into these grooves. I have a feeling the steel plate needs to be a bit thicker in that area or a different bolt needs to be used. Overall I'm happy with the product and happy to keep the spare tire. a little disappointed with theโ€ฆ

Continuous. BUT. - Exterior accessories

Good finish and excellent powder coating. However. Most rack bags that are welded to the sides of trailers are 3 inches long or less. The portion of this holder that fits into the peg pocket is just over 3 inches long. This way the locking bar is pressed against the underside of the bracket before it can touch and catch the bottom edge of the pannier bag, all of which is released once the screw is tightened. I welded a Curt rod pocket to accept this holder but since it doesn't work I just haveโ€ฆ

Quick, easy and secure spare wheel installation

Our best spare wheel alternative. Find a suitable position for the eyebolts and hammer them into the bracket or use hammer plates to pull them back. This is on the passenger side as it is safer to remove the spare tire and reposition the potential flat tire on the highway side than on the driver's side. Installation is quick and easy. I put a small amount of anti-seize on the screw in case I decide to remove it in the future. Tightens tight, doesn't rattle or wobble. 3/16" metal plate with aโ€ฆ

Really wanted this to work for us. The problem is that with tires/fenders on regular axles, our trailer is about 8 feet wide or more. When you mount this spare wheel holder, it protrudes a few centimeters over the axle wheels and fenders of the trailer. We planned to carry two spares, one on each side of the trailer, but apparently the spare sticks out too far over the sides of our trailer. The trailer is already very wide and we didn't expect the stake pocket to make it even wider. Theโ€ฆ

Very strong, easy to install

Installing the bracket itself is very simple. If you are installing the bottom bar through the stake pocket I would suggest offsetting it slightly as this will give you a stronger attachment to the pocket. It only gets more complicated that the bolts for mounting the tires are not installed and have to be pressed in. It doesn't matter if you have access to an impact wrench or jackhammer for leverage. If you plan to install the bolts yourself with an impact wrench or a broken bar, take 4 or 5โ€ฆ

BEWARE. This may not fit your trailer if it has a top rail.?

CAUTION. It may not fit your trailer if a top rail or stake pocket is too close to something that could hit the spare tire. I bought two of these. one for my small 10ft carry-on tag (Tractor Supply). and one for my 20 foot big tex open deck trailer. The small trailer has a top rail and when mounted on this rack in the front pocket the spare tire hits the front top rail and when mounted on the rear rack the spare tire hits the back of the fender. I had to purchase another clip holder fromโ€ฆ
