Type of review

Some people have complained that it's cheaply made, it's just not true. This product must be used with caution. You can't just unroll it when it's in the down position, otherwise it might break. But once the cap is on the bottle, slow, steady pressure lowers the cap until the handles align. When the handles are aligned, the cap is on and no further pressure is required. Standing over the capper while bottling and leaning on it with your weight can overstretch your arms and break them. It just…

Great DIY gear option

These things work great. I have one that still works after 4 years, bought another just in case. They are rigid and have a fairly simple design. You can ignore the 1 star rating for this product for two reasons. First, who the heck are clear glass bottles? Hell is a great enemy of beer taste, brown is the standard for home brewing. Second, clear glass bottles tend to be thinner and more prone to breakage. Manufacturers use them to keep cheap beer cheap. Most of your brown craft beer bottles…

Works exactly as you'd hope - great performance at an affordable price!

I have been using the Monster Brew Home Brewing Gold Equipment Kit here at Revain for about 3 years now and have been satisfied with the product and the reliability of most of the equipment supplied. The exception was the bottle cap they contained. From day one I was never very happy with the black grip cap - have always used it with care and felt it required more effort than it should have. Well, this capping machine from Red Barron helped me prove my point - it's MUCH easier to use and does a

Good sturdy capper - bottling and bottling

I had one many years ago on my first attempt at brewing beer. (terribly disgusting failure was the first beer) I lost it. So I bought another one. I bought another type to compare them. This capper is a winner in most categories. The only category where this capper fails is in extra tall neck bottles. If you look at the neck of the bottle you will see the top rim where the bottle thickens just before the top rim. Usually there are 2 sizes. One is significantly longer than the other. With a…

I used a capper many years ago. Years passed and I decided to bottle Kombucha. It took me a while to get used to this wing cover. At first I thought I wasn't strong enough to use it, but I wasn't. I was expecting the handles to fall off and almost touch the bottle when corked. That's not the case. The bottle is closed when the handles are parallel to the bottom. This capper is great for bottling kombucha but I wish I had spent the extra money and bought a capper. With this type of capping, you…

Saw the same model for $10 more at a local store, works like a charm.

This works like a dream and is almost $10 less than the same model at my local beer store. I saw a post here where he broke bottles and didn't have this problem at all. My guess is that this person(s) tried to stretch too far and figured more force was needed for the final crimp. Stop moving the handles down when they are roughly parallel to the table top. Your intuition is probably telling you to continue past this point, but don't. There's no distinct click or bright indicator that the bottle

Great Capper is the best in home brewing and wine making

Bought this Capper to draft beer at home. I was skeptical about the plastic case and read reviews complaining about the quality and breakage. When it arrived it was packed in a large zipped bag - not the best sign of quality. I'm really looking forward to some packaging these days. However, when I opened the package, I was pleasantly surprised. Yes, most of the lid is plastic, but it's not flimsy plastic like a bottle or bucket, it's more like how office chairs are made. The device is actually…
